  • It's that time of year! We are revving up a food drive to support Philabundance.  Donations will be collected from Friday, November 15th to Friday November 22nd. You can send them in with your student any day during the collection period. See below for more information about what kinds of food to donate.
  • Greening Greenfield is seeking a landscape designer or someone with a very green thumb from the Greenfield community to advise us on some plantings in our school yard. Please reach out to [email protected] if you can help.
  • Thank you for your Annual Fund donations. We are busy working on your donation acknowledgement (for any donation of $250 and above) and will send them as soon as possible but in no event later than January 31, 2020.  Please reach out to Sam Charotari at [email protected] if you haven't received an acknowledgment by that date.

Have a great week!

Sharing is Caring:
Greenfield's Annual Food Drive is Back!

It's that time of year! We are revving up a food drive to support Philabundance. Philabundance is the areas largest hunger relief organization, yet it relies on donations to succeed in its mission to drive hunger from our communities. Through Philabundance, the items that we collect will be sent numerous local agencies, including shelters, food pantries, and after-school meal programs.

Donations will be collected from Friday, November 15th to Friday November 22nd. You can send them in with your student any day during the collection period.

Suggested donations by grade level:

Kindergarten -- pasta (any variety) and/or rice
1st Grade           -- oatmeal and/or breakfast cereal
2nd Grade        -- instant potatoes, stuffing mix, gravy mix
3rd Grade         -- muffin mix, brownie mix, cake mix and icing
4th Grade         -- peanut butter and jelly
5th Grade         -- canned tuna or meat
6th Grade         -- canned fruit
7th Grade          -- canned stews and soups
8th Grade          -- canned vegetables

This is a suggested list. All donations are welcome. Please feel free to include any of the high-priority food items listed HERE.

Our goal is to collect over 1,000 lbs. of goods. Thank you for your continued generosity and dedication to our community.

Greening Greenfield Cleanup Update

This past Saturday, 11/9, we held our second Greening Greenfield cleanup event and it was a huge success! Todd Lane donated and planted 6 evergreens in our sidewalk planters, Beau Wurges installed a basketball hoop in the Kindergarten playground, and 15 other families picked up litter, raked leaves, and trimmed trees and grasses for over two hours. We also removed the plastic fencing on the south side of the playground, which has revealed some barren areas.

We'd like to thank Federal Donuts for providing the donut minis and Giant Heirloom for the bagels and snacks.

We are seeking a landscape designer or someone with a very green thumb from the Greenfield community to advise us on some plantings in this area. Please reach out to [email protected] if you can help.

Please mark your calendar for the next Cleanup on Monday, 1/20, during MLK Day of Service.

Feel free to reach out to us with questions or ideas by emailing  [email protected]  and either Chau or Kate will respond.
Auction Volunteers Needed!

Did you have fun at last year's auction?  Do you enjoy spending time with other Greenfield parents and community members? Do you have a connection to a local shop or restaurant?

If you answered yes to just one question, please consider joining the Auction Planning Committee by attending a short informational meeting on Wednesday, November 20th after drop-off in the library.  We will review the various committees that all contribute to the success of the auction so each volunteer can consider which committee best meets their talents and time.

If you are interested in helping but can't attend the meeting, please email [email protected] to learn more.
A Thanksgiving Message from Miles Table
and the Lynch Family

As you know the Lynch family and Miles Table just love being a part of the Greenfield community.  We would like to help reach our fundraising goal for the playground.

With that in mind we wanted to circulate this traditional Thanksgiving feast flyer to the entire school community. As you can see on the flyer we will donate 10% of each Thanksgiving feast ordered from our restaurant Miles Table, back to Greenfield Elementary to be used for the Playground.

Parents can also share the flyer with their friends and family because Miles Table will donate 10% from all orders placed.

Thanks so much for all you do for this school. We know you love Greenfield just as much as we do!

Holton's Heroes' Toy Drive

Please consider making a donation of a new unwrapped toy to benefit hospitalized children through Holton's Heroes. A box will be in the school lobby beginning tomorrow.

MLK Day

We have already started planning MLK Day 2020. This year, we are asking for donations of hats, gloves and socks for women and children at the local women's shelter. Collection will begin after winter break. We are also asking the children in the lower school to make cards for our local police and fireman - a small thank you for their service keeping us safe everyday! Please remember MLK Day of Service is a DAY ON, NOT A DAY OFF!

Look for more information next month from our chairs Monica Johnson and Monique Smaller-Rush including a sign up genius to organize our clean-up efforts around the school and yard on MLK Day.
October R.A.M.S. Winners and Punch Card Winners

Congratulations to our October R.A.M.S. awardees and our PBIS punch card raffle drawing winners. They were announced on Friday at school. As a reminder, here is a link to the RAMS behavior expectations.

Volunteer Opportunities

Please review the available volunteer opportunities for this school year. Please sign up for an event you'd like to help with, and the chair of the event will reach out to share more details. We look forward to a successful 2019-2020 school year!
Counselor Corner

At the beginning of each school year, our 8th graders are faced with the challenging task of completing their schoolwork while simultaneously engaging in the high school application process. We would like to congratulate our 8th grade students and families for getting past the initial phase of this hurdle! It is truly an accomplishment and we are so proud of them. Applicants (to both high schools and middle schools) will receive decision notifications via the online portal on January 10th. Students must make their selections by January 21, 2020. We wish our students and families the best of luck as they navigate the remainder of this process. Please do not hesitate to reach out to me with any questions or concerns.
