We Challenge You
to Give One Hour to Our School!
We challenge each of you this year to find a way to give one hour of your time to an HSA-sponsored event. We have so many events throughout the year (during school hours and in the evening) and so many different ways to spend your hour (from leading agame at the upcoming Halloween party to leading a group of first graders through the book fair).
There is no one-size-fits-all way to be involved and so we have tried to offer many opportunities regardless of how much time you have to give. Please take the time to review
this Sign-up Genius and find something that works for you and sign-up. The chair of the event or our engagement chair will be in touch with you shortly. We promise that it feels great to volunteer, especially when kids' smiles are one of the rewards.

Playground Update
We're still hard at work on the Greenfield Community Playground Project which seeks to rebuild the Chestnut Street kindergarten playground and replace the legacy playground structure located on the main playground. Thank you to everyone who replied to our design survey - we received almost 400 responses!
In addition, we recently received word that our matching grant from the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development was approved!!! This grant puts us well past the halfway point of our total fundraising goal.
If you would like to get involved in this project, the HSA's Fundraising Subcommittee will be holding a meeting after drop off on
Thursday, September 26th. If you plan to attend, please email DeWitt Brown (
[email protected]). If we are to meet our goal of breaking ground on this project during the Summer of 2020, we will need all the help we can get!

Kindergarten Play Yard
Quick reminder that the Kindergarten play yard is only for Kindergartners after school. Older kids are asked not to play in that area. Thank you!

Preventing "Gaga Knuckles"
Gaga is very popular and so are "Gaga knuckles," when your knuckles scrape the ground while you're attempting to hit the ball. We are running through band-aides at lightning speed.
So moving forward, Captain Kurk is requesting that all Gaga players wear a glove(s) while playing Gaga. No one will be allowed to play Gaga without the protective gear. This will be effective starting 09/23
Recommended types of gloves include
- Baseball gloves
- Soccer gloves
- Football gloves
- Specialty Gaga gloves
Thank you for your cooperation!

If your child is new to Greenfield and already plays an instrument and would like to participate in the program, please notify the teacher.

School Yard
On Saturday, September 21st, from 9am until 2pm, Greening Greenfield will host approximately 75 to 100 volunteers from Villanova University who will be taking part in their annual day of service. This year, the Villanova students will be helping us to clean up the school yard as well as perform some heavier landscaping tasks.
Villanova students are hard workers but sometime they need a little extra direction to keep them on task. We would love to have a few extra volunteers from the Greenfield community to help coordinate their work. If you are interested, please email DeWitt Brown (
[email protected]) to let him know your availability.
