FAQs about online events
Q: How do I attend one of Greenlight's online events?
A: It's easy! Just click the "Register for this event" link for any event and follow the instructions. You'll receive an email with a link to login (and we'll send you a reminder an hour before the event begins). Click the login link when it's time to join, and the Zoom app will open on your computer, tablet, or phone; follow the simple instructions to join the event.
For ticketed events, click on the ticket link to purchase your admission and any extras. You'll receive an exclusive login link and further instructions.
Q: What if I can't join with video?
A: You can still listen in on a presentation or meeting by dialing in via phone. Follow the same process as above, and dial the number included in the registration confirmation email you receive.
Q: How do I get the book? Can I get it signed?
A: You can order any and all featured author event books via greenlightbookstore.com (we'll share direct buy links within the event too), or shop in our stores. Books ordered online can either be shipped directly from our supplier warehouse, or picked up from our stores. (Note that we may not have a large quantity of event books on hand in the store, but we can get them in quickly if we run out!) Some authors may stop by to sign copies of books at our store so we may have signed copies available by request, and others have offered to mail signed bookplates to customers who purchase the book from Greenlight; see event descriptions for details or contact us with any questions.
Q: How does this work for attendees? Are there security concerns?
A: Good question! Our author presentations are hosted using Zoom Webinar, which means that only the featured speakers are visible and audible. As an attendee, you'll be able to see the speakers and ask questions via the Chat function. For our book group discussions we use Zoom Meeting, and follow best practices in terms of settings and hosting to prevent discussions from being interrupted or otherwise used inappropriately. As with any public event (in the store or online!) there's always the risk of someone behaving badly, but our event hosts are trained to manage and adapt to make sure speakers and attendees have the best possible experience.
Q: What if I can't make the time of the author event / what if the event is full?
A: Some very popular events may max out our attendance capacity, or you just may not be able to log in for an event you were excited about. We record all of our online events and often post clips on our YouTube channel and/or audio on our podcast as well, so stay tuned for more from your favorite authors!

Do good with books:
Donate to the
Prison Library Support Network!
Greenlight is proud to partner with the Prison Library Support Network. Public libraries offer services to correctional facilities in NYC by circulating books from a much smaller, more limited collection that are always in need of replenishing and updating. Due to COVID-19 correctional libraries have had to cease their work inside facilities and the future of their funding is uncertain - and that's where you come in!
We need your help to make sure all New Yorkers have a way to read books that they want to read regardless of interaction with the criminal justice system. You can purchase a book (or books!) from our wish list and Greenlight will ship them directly to a public library collection at a jail or shelter in NYC.
What is the Booklist?
The wish list is a collection of titles that have been hand-picked by New York City library workers who provide library service to correctional facilities and shelters that house people who have recently been released. These books will be used to supplement collections in shelters and facilities. These titles were curated to reflect the requests of currently and formerly incarcerated patrons. Titles range from new and old classics, biographies, self-help, and books in Spanish.

How to buy books from Greenlight
You'll see lots of "Buy the book" links in the email above -- you can still get featured event books and lots more from your local independent bookstore!
Order books online any time at greenlightbookstore.com. You can have books shipped directly to you from our supplier warehouse (shipping is free over $100)! Or you can choose curbside pickup at checkout, and pick up your books in either of our store locations! ( Note that we may not have all event books in stock at all times, but you can place a special order even if it's not currently on our shelves.)
You can also order ebook editions of many titles through our storefront on My Must Reads, or find lots of great audiobooks through our storefront on Libro.fm.
Even if you don't need to stock up on books, you can support the store now by ordering gift codes -- they can be used on our website at any time!
