June 2025 Special Update

Village Notices

  • Carousel Update: the complete disassembly and repair of the entire carousel has been completed. Our specialized carousel experts are now putting it back together with many needed repairs and new parts. This is the first time in the 24 years since the carousel was placed in Mitchell Park that it has been completely taken apart and rebuilt. We anticipate opening later this month in time for July 4th festivities.

  • The State funded ferry queue project is nearly complete. The queue itself opened nearly two months early to the State schedule, we are thrilled with the great work Corazzini Contracting has done to expedite the project prior to Memorial Day. There only remains additional landscaping work, picnic tables and added lighting in the Jitney & LIRR lot. We are also happy to share we will be creating a new garden and public space behind the East End Seaport Museum in partnership with them. https://northferry.com/directions.html

  • The village just finished repaving Sixth Street and is working on other paving soon. Additionally, we will be redoing sidewalks on Adams Street, Third Street in front of the Legion Hall, and the bus stop on First Street near IGA.

  • Additionally, we are thrilled to share we will be redoing the Third Street basketball court and replacing playground equipment in the Third Street park this summer. And we have plans to redo the fencing around the Fifth & Sixth Street beach park and repairs to the restrooms.

  • Paid parking in partnership with Park Mobile has started in an effort to raise funds from summer visitors instead of raising taxes commensurate with the budgeted revenues

- Memorial Day to Indigenous Peoples/Columbus Day

- Front Street from Main to Third

- Main Street from Claudio's to Center Street

- No signs on other streets or lots

- $3.50 / HR

  • Yellow tax bills were mailed to both property owners and mortgage holders this year. If your taxes are usually paid by your mortgage, that should continue. There's no penalty as long it's paid by July 1st.
