GREENSBORO, N.C. --
Bill MacReynolds, dean of Greensboro College's School of Business, will speak on financial independence during a business class from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 16, in 106 Proctor Hall East on campus.
The event is free, and the public is invited. Free parking is available behind the college's Admissions Welcome Center at West Market Street and College Place.
MacReynolds will be speaking to the college's Leadership Fitness class. His presentation is based on a chapter of the book "Leadership Fitness" by longtime football coach and college-athletics administrator Homer Rice.
MacReynolds began his career as a postdoctoral fellow and acting assistant professor at Cornell University and then taught at Ohio State University before joining the Federal Trade Commission as an economist from 1977 to 1980.
His career also has included serving as director of economic forecasting for the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, as staff to the Joint Economic Committee of the U.S. Congress, and as senior economist for MITRE, a private nonprofit that manages research projects for numerous executive- and judicial-branch federal agencies.
He also has worked as a consultant, restaurant owner and real-estate investor.
He holds a B.S. in agricultural economics from the University of California at Berkeley and a Ph.D. in economics from the University of Southern California.
He joined the full-time faculty in 2014 after having been a visiting faculty member since 2010.
