Let's talk about dance students, you know the ones that benefit from your excellent teaching skills, interpersonal acumen, and vast knowledge of technique, history, pedagogy, and more. Whether they are in elementary school, high school, college, or even the little ones in early childhood classes, NDEO offers something to support you, the EDUCATOR, to help you deliver on the vision of #DanceEducationforALL. So with that said, consider these 3 programs……


1)     It is never too late to consider starting a chapter of the National Honor Society for Dance Arts (NHSDA) at your school to honor your outstanding dance students. We offer 3 types of chapters - Junior, Secondary, and Collegiate. And we have to DEADLINES this week – the NHSDA Award deadline is 1-30-25 and the Call for NHSDA Award Adjudicator deadline is 1-31-25.


2)     It is never too early to consider bringing your college dance students to NDEO’s 2025 National Conference. This year it will be in Detroit in early October. NDEO offers significantly discounted registration rates for college students! Don’t miss out on introducing this avenue of education to your students.


3)     It is time, NOW, to consider if you are Connecting with your Dance Students in a way that makes a difference. NDEO has gathered member input to create a series of 5 Blog articles to address connections with all ages/stages of students ~ they are a MUST READ.


It’s all about the students—the ones who thrive because of your passion, dedication, and expertise. NDEO is here to support you in shaping their future.

NDEO seeks dance educators who can adjudicate the award applicants - must be an NDEO Member who does not have a student applying for the award. Limited spots available. Deadline to apply is 1/31/25.

Students Submit Your NHSDA Award Application

Dance students who have been inducted into the National Honor Society for Dance Arts (NHSDA) Secondary Program and are current juniors and seniors in High School are eligible for the NHSDA Artistic Merit, Leadership and Academic Achievement Award and Scholarship.

Establishing an NHSDA chapter in your school is one very important way that you can help advance the field of dance education. Celebrating your exceptional dance students helps to create honor and prestige within our field and improve our image to those outside the field.

K-12 Dance - Virtual SIG Meeting

~NEW~ OPDI-M34: Exploring Ballet – History and Practice

This 6-week online course is designed to let the you dive into the history, current practices, and future considerations of ballet training and performance. Through the course, we will explore the development of ballet as a dance form.... while exploring issues that exist presently and that will impact the future of ballet.

OPDI-M18: Intro. to Choreography in Dance Education: A Process to Teach Your Students How to Create Dances This 6-week online course will give you experience with a system that can be used to teach basic elements and principles of choreography and explores how to encourage self-expression through dance making.

~NEW~ ODPI-M35: Creating Gender Inclusive Dance Spaces This 6-week online course is intended for teachers in the PK-12 setting, dance education college students, as well as dance studio teachers & owners. There is a great need for teachers to be more inclusive in their language, practices, and performances to support ALL students.

Gender & Dance Virtual Summit on 3/1/25

In this 1-day summit, we will feature 10+ live virtual sessions for dance teachers on the topic of Dance and Gender delivered across 5 different session blocks, including movement sessions, panel discussions, and paper presentations on various topics and for different environments.
