Happy Lunar New Year!
We are excited to share that 2021’s Year of the Ox was an incredible year of fundraising for Panda Express. The 44 Panda Express restaurants in the Central Valley that support Valley Children’s raised a record-breaking $736,632.79 during their year-round campaign in 2021. This is an incredible feat achieved by Panda Express associates, especially in the midst of the pandemic!
During the past 13 years, Panda Express has raised more than $3.8 million for Valley Children’s. Every dollar supports the Panda Cares Center of Hope, located inside the Hospital. This dedicated space supports Child Life Services, Inpatient Rehabilitation Services, Patient and Family Services, and Spiritual Care and Chaplain Services, all of whom help our young patients heal, learn and thrive.
The top three fundraising stores in 2021 were: Store #1803 in Fresno (Kings Canyon/Peach) raised $31,882.71; Store #1835 in Madera (Cleveland Ave./Hwy. 99) raised $31,339.23; and Store #840 in Hanford (12th Ave./Lacey Blvd.) raised $31,239.61.

Our deepest gratitude to Panda Express associates and guests for their unwavering support! We look forward to what 2022’s Year of the Tiger may bring for fundraising. Will it be another record-breaking year? Those born in the Year of the Tiger are said to be brave, competitive, unpredictable and confident. We are confident it will be another great year for the many brave children we serve.

For every new unit rented, Derrel's Mini Storage donates $1 to support the patients and families we serve. All of the more than fifty Derrel's Mini Storage locations across the Central Valley participate in this campaign each year, which resulted in a $39,886 donation for 2021. Their trust in us helps us continue to offer high-quality, comprehensive services to every child who walks through our doors.
Since 1986, Derrel's Mini Storage has donated $1,085,933.78 to Valley Children's Hospital. Thank you to Derrel's Mini Storage for their continued generosity, and to all those who rented a storage unit this year!

The 35th annual Kids Day is coming on March 8, 2022. Since 1988, Valley Children’s has partnered with ABC30 and The Fresno Bee to orchestrate Kids Day. As one of the largest fundraising events in the Central Valley, Kids Day hosts more than 20 communities to help raise funds to support Valley Children’s greatest needs.
We encourage you to support this year's Kids Day online or via text. Protecting the health and well-being of the community is our first priority.

Weighing less than an unopened soda can and one of the tiniest babies born in the world, Tyson was fortunate just to survive. Born at 24 weeks’ gestation weighing only 12.7 ounces, Tyson is living proof that even those as vulnerable as he was have a winning chance. Today, Tyson is 10 years old and loves playing baseball.
When Katie’s blood pressure soared and her platelets dropped rapidly, the baby was delivered by cesarean section and immediately transferred to Valley Children’s Level IV NICU. “He was a beautiful sight,” Matt said of his son’s birth.
“It’s vital these preemies receive specialized care within that time frame,” Valley Children’s Chief of Newborn Medicine Dr. Jeffrey Pietz said. “Otherwise, it’s usually too late. The fact that Tyson survived and without any major comorbidities is remarkable.”
