2022 Annual Report

Shrove Tuesday Pancake Dinner

February 21, 5:30 - 7:00

Bring your family, friends and neighbors!

Please join St. Thomas Tuesday, February 21, 2023 from 5:30 - 7:00 PM for our annual Shrove Tuesday Pancake dinner where we will be serving pancakes, sausages, milk/juice/coffee for an open donation with proceeds supporting or children's program.

Why Shrove Tuesday? Shrove Tuesday, Fat Tuesday, or Pancake Day, is the traditional feast day before the start of Lent on Ash Wednesday. Lent – the 40 days leading up to Easter – was traditionally a time of fasting and on Shrove Tuesday, Anglo-Saxon Christians went to confession and were “shriven” (absolved from their sins). Shrove Tuesday was the last opportunity to use up eggs and fats before embarking on the Lenten fast and pancakes are the perfect way of using up these ingredients.

For more information on Shrove Tuesday, follow this link: https://www.episcopalchurch.org/dfms/pass-the-syrup-its-shrove-tuesday/ or ask your friend google. ~Burns Davison

P.S. - There is a rumor that there may be pancake races and Zydeco Music.

Ms. Eva Williams Retires from Card Writing Ministry

Seeking Someone to Continue Her Legacy

Over the years, Ms. Eva has thought about and prayed for all of us as she has written and sent us birthday and anniversary cards on behalf of St. Thomas. She has sent hundreds and hundreds of cards celebrating the special moments in our lives. The time has come for her to pass her pen and this ministry on to some else.

Please join me in thanking Ms. Eva for her service!

If you or a group of you are interested in picking up this ministry, Eva is happy to talk with you and share her experience as well as the fulfillment this ministry has given her through the years. You will be provided with cards, postage, addresses and a list of birthdays and anniversaries. It's up to you to add your prayers and sweet words.

THANK YOU EVA FOR ALL THE THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS OVER THE YEARS!

Inquirers Classes

Learn More About The Episcopal Tradition

On the second Sunday of each month, The Rev. Terri Hobart will lead Inquirers Classes for those who would like to learn more about the beliefs, history, worship, and practices of the Episcopal Church. Each class will cover a different aspect of the Episcopal Church. This series is ideal for those newer to the Episcopal Church, as well as anyone who has questions or would like to deepen their understanding of the Episcopal Tradition. Parishioners are invited to attend the whole series or just classes of particular interest. Those who are considering or who will participate in confirmation or reception should participate in all sessions or schedule a make up, if necessary.

Jenifer Gamber’s Your Faith, Your Life: An Invitation to the Episcopal Churchavailable online through Church Publishing Incorporated, is recommended as a companion to this series.

Sign-ups for Coffee Hour and Flowers

Beginning in September, we would like to resume a regular coffee hour. As such you will find a sign-up sheet by the church door. We encourage you to find a partner and sign -up to host a coffee hour. All that is required is to come a few minutes early to make the coffee (instructions are provided) and help tidy up after coffee hour. Providing a snack is optional.

There is also a sign-up sheet to provide flowers for the altar. You have the options of making a donations so that we can order flowers or you can provide them. If you would like to donate flowers in memory or honor of someone, please email the office and we will include that in the weekly bulletin.

None of This Would Be Possible Without Your Financial Support!

Thank You!
