At Adruta, this year can best be described as a year of Excellence in times of adversity. We have much to be grateful for but our challenges are significant. The children are thriving because of community support and the dedication of our staff and volunteers. Adruta survives because our community helps us make a true home for our children through sponsorship of special events, visits to our centers, mentorship for career development, corporate responsibility programs and importantly, the philanthropic financial donations that allow us to operate our ten centers across Odisha to care for 525+ parentless children. Dr Aditya Mohanty, Founder Chairman of Adruta Children Home is honoured with the Nabakrushna Choudhury Social Service Award and has been selected for Radhanath Rath Social Service Award which will be awarded on 6th December'23 for his outstanding selfless service for Children in distress.

Laudable initiatives towards skill development and promotion of quality education

In association with the Young Tinker Academy, Adruta children home started Tinker Space at Angul, Dhenkanal and Bhubaneswar homes, providing extensive opportunities for not only the children of Adruta but children in the surrounding areas so they can be exposed to advance learning to help them join the NASA Rover competition in the ensuing year. In this connection the local corporations have been approached to fund the Tinker programs in different children centers.

Gurukrupa foundation USA. is proposing to open a computer literacy center and computer lab at Gurukrupa Home at Bolangir.

Sunaiana Foundation Lucknow, extends ongoing assistance in Computer Literacy for the children home at Bhagbatipur Bhubaneswar. They are contemplating to extend it to all other chapters of Adruta.

Prof. Bikram Keshari Das foundation is building a science lab center at the Girl’s center in Bhubaneswar.

About 24 children from different chapters of Adruta have been selected to attend a 3 day international Edu-lead Summit led by US kids4Water in Bangalore in January 2024.

Karuna Employability Trust has introduced some innovative educational techniques to facilitate quick learning of children. They have elaborate programs at Angul, Dhenkanal and Bhubaneswar chapters of Adruta, which undertakes the training of the teaching staff besides educating children in different non-formal modes.

Mahanadi Coal Field (MCL) has been approached to extend financial assistance to kick start the projects under their CSR initiative.

Adruta has detailed plans to initiate the Skill Develop Center in Tailoring Training center at Angul at the cost of 3.50 lakh. The beneficiaries of the project are not only children of Angul chapter but also the children of Bhubaneswar.

There are regular spoken English classes in all chapters of Adruta, It is a part of the educational development and personal development program for children initiated by government of Odisha. The target groups are from 6 to 8 years.

Spotlights on the children

Omm joined Adruta children home when he was 12 years old. He was one of the three students selected from Odisha to participate in the NASA Human exploration rover challenger at Hunstville, Alabama USA. After return from NASA, he is continuing studies in +2 science at Biju Pattanaik college Bhubaneswar and simultaneously preparing for JEE main and JEE advance, and NDA. He has the ambition to pursue the career of a Software Engineer. Presently he is supporting the Young Tinkers at Adruta. 

Akankhya joined Adruta when she was 5 years old. She was also one of three students who joined human exploration rover challenge at NASA. Presently she is continuing her studies at government ITI Bhubaneswar and preparing for other competitive examination. She is actively associated with Young Tinker trainees as a mentor.

Anindita has completed her degree in Social Work from National Institution of Social Work and Social Science (NISWAS) from Utkal University. Currently she is employed as a staff member Adruta. 

Pranati on completion of her post graduation in Journalism, is preparing for competitive examinations and aspires to join Government service. She has cleared the examination for Panchayat Executive Officer.

Kameswar, on completion of Masters degree in Sial Work in National Institution of Social Work and Social Science (NISWAS) from Utkal university, is working as the superintendent of Adruta children home Puri and she is preparing for different competitive examination.

Ashima is continuing her Post graduation in Clinical Psychology at Udayanath deemed university, Adaspur. She has an internship at all India Institute of Public Health (AIPH). She is an accomplished artist in dance, music and performed in different festivals in India and abroad.

Amrita, on completion of her graduation with Psychology honors, is continuing her Post graduation in Psychology at Udaynath deemed university at Adashpur. She is an accomplished international artist in Fine art, Dance and Music and was part of the team that travelled across overseas countries to perform.

Basanti, after completion of her graduation in Psychology, she is now pursuing her post graduation in Clinical Psychology at Utkal University, Bhubaneswar.
