 Unpack & Unwind

Whether you're visiting this month for some pre-holiday relaxation, a Thanksgiving gathering, or you're just getting a jump on winter vacation plans, the lodging choices in and around Burke abound.

Retreat to the Firefly Cabin located in nearby Newark.  The 3 bedroom home is a little bit rustic and a lot of luxury with a woodstove, large dining room area, and gourmet kitchen.  Located on 25 acres, it's the perfect spot for peace & quiet among the woods.  It's located on a VAST trail so bring the snowmobiles this winter.

Maybe a trip to the White House is in order...the Burke White House, that is.   This 3 bedroom cape is just a quick walk to village restaurants and shops.  The home sleeps up to 12 people and features a chef's kitchen - perfect for cooking up a Turkey day feast.

Relax and enjoy a spa stay before the holidays arrive. The Meadow View Room at the Stepping Stones Inn/Serenity Spa is available for nightly rentals and has two bedrooms.  The Inn is located on picturesque Darling Hill Road with mountain and farmland views.  Of course, your rejuvenation retreat wouldn't be complete without treating yourself to a massage or facial.

  Deal of the Month

It's almost time for Nordic fun and fat-biking.   Here's a great incentive to get NEK residents out there and trying something new.  Kingdom Trails is offering 33% savings to all residents of the Northeast Kingdom (Caledonia, Essex, Orleans counties).  If you live here, you can now enjoy an individual season pass to KT for just $50 or a family season pass for just $100 (Non-NEK yearly rates are $75/$150).  Do the math - a day pass is $15 so if you plan to XC ski, fat bike, or mtn bike more than 3 times in the next 12 months, the locals season pass is a must.

If you're looking to build your own home, you need to start with some land.  How does 103 acres on the Kingdom Trails network sound?  The price = $119,000.   The land offered by StoneCrest Properties is located among a conserved forest and is just minutes from the village and the ski slopes.  Here's your chance to secure your spot in this growing town.

Log homes aren't what they used to be!  This gorgeous, custom made home on 50 acres in Burke is listed with Four Seasons Sotheby's International Realty.  The home, made with Douglas Fir logs, has a two story stacked stone fireplace, 3 car garage, and a chef's kitchen with Viking appliances, among many other amazing features.  On-site are trails for everything from ATV's to snowmobiles to mountain bikes to snowshoes.
