Happy New Year!

Welcome to 2023! Like most everywhere else, we've had some crazy weather in these parts and some days, Mother Nature seems a bit confused about the season. Fortunately, the slopes are snow-covered with or without her help. Gravel riding and winter hiking are also options while we wait for more white stuff. Hopefully, it won't be long before the snow falls again.

Free skiing and riding on weekdays is available all season to all active duty military personnel and their immediate family members with the MILITARY FREE SKI MIDWEEK deal. Military Veterans receive a 10% discount on lift tickets all season.

Unpack & Unwind

Whether your winter vacation includes snowmobiling, skiing, fat-biking or some of each, there are lots of lodging choices on or near the trails.

Rock Garden Rentals offers 10 cabins all located on VAST and Kingdom Trails networks. Each luxury log cabin has a full kitchen, WiFi, Smart TV, secure storage space for gear and more. Some cabins even have a whole-house back-up generator just in case of a power outage.

The Inn at Burklyn is joining forces with Dynamic Cycling Adventures to offer a Fat Bike Adventure & Poker Ride from January 20th - 23rd. The 3 night package includes a luxury room, gourmet meals and daily, guided fat-bike tours.

Enjoy a whole house and 13 acres to yourself at Play Hard Mountain Sports rental. The property adjoins a VAST trail and is just a few minutes drive to Burke Mountain and the KT winter trails. The beautiful post & beam home has 3 bedrooms and sleeps up to 10 people.

Located just down the road from the slopes, the Farmhouse at Kingdom Farm Lodge is available year round. Built in the 1800's, the home has 3 bedrooms, a full kitchen and laundry room. It's the perfect place to call home for your winter vacation.

Burke Gives Back

Many local businesses gave back to the community this holiday season including those who participated in the Burke Chamber Christmas Tree Display and Contest. Fifteen trees are lighting up the green in East Burke Village with each tree 'adopted' and decorated by a local business or school. The Chamber chose 6 winners who each received $100 for a charity of their choice. You can see pics of all the trees on our facebook page or better yet, stop by the green and see them up close.

Starting this month, The Wildflower Restaurant will have a 'give back' program on Monday nights with 10% of dinner proceeds going to a different charity each week. It's a triple win - no cooking, you get to enjoy a great meal and you're giving back to a local organization.

East Burke School recently welcomed Ukrainian refugee children for a day of skill-sharing and holiday craft making. EBS students taught them some needle felting and wood burning skills and together they made holiday cards for loved ones.

Kingdom Trails recently selected 9 local organizations as the recipients of a KT mini grant in amounts of up to $5,000. This year's recipients include: Adaptive Sports Partners, Northeast Kingdom Preschool, NorthWoods Stewardship Center, the Town of East Haven and others.
