December 23, 2019

Dear friends,

It was just over one year ago that I had the honor to speak at the 2019 Inauguration for the Prince George's County Executive and County Council. My words from that speech that day are just as true now as they were then and feel especially important as we see and experience so much division within our nation.

Only together can the gifts of Prince George's County be shared and unwrapped by all.

Only together can we strengthen our County, our communities, our families and realize our fullest potential.

Only together as one County, can our tapestry, our story, and our County shine bright.

I know that the Council's 2020 leadership, Council Chair Todd Turner and Council Vice Chair Calvin Hawkins, join me in a deep understanding that we are stronger together, one of the many reasons I was proud to cast my vote for them as Chair and Vice Chair of our Council this upcoming year.

I'm incredibly grateful for the numerous ways so many in District 3 and across Prince George's County work to make our County a wonderful place to call home. I invite you to join me in 2020 as we continue to live the motto I have used for each of my five years in office: Together Strengthening Our Community.

In 2020 I will again serve as Chair of the Council's Planning, Housing and Economic Development (PHED) Committee. I will also serve as Vice Chair, along with Chair Deni Taveras, of the Council's Transportation, Infrastructure, Energy and Environment Committee.

In 2020 I look forward to working on legislation and initiatives to continue to move our County forward, including reducing litter from plastic bags, moving forward crucial school infrastructure, promoting housing opportunities for all, ensuring the Purple Line benefits all members of the corridor, implementing transit-oriented development, enhancing health and social services for our residents, and much more.

Our District 3 team wishes you and your loved ones a blessed holiday season. Please note, our office will be closed the afternoons of December 24 and 31, and closed all day on December 25 and January 1 as we spend time with our loved ones.

As always, don't hesitate to reach out to me or a member of my staff if we may assist you in any way.

Together Strengthening Our Community,
