January 2024'

Jim Puckey

September 4th 1958 ~ January 3rd 2024

We lost our go-to soundman, and very dear member of the DMcC family, Jim Puckey this week to a long battle with Cancer.

Jim Puckey ran sound for DMcC on and off (whenever we called) throughout the blur that was the 2000's and 2010's.

Jim was famous amungst guitarists as "the" guy running sound.

"When Puckey was behind the board, I knew the guitar was sounding exceptional out front" Rich Chaisson.

Jim ran sound, played Bass and sang with Central Maine's Musical Institution know as "No Real Neighbors".

"the Neighbors" included Paul Barron, Jeff Neagle, Jim, and Dennis Boudreau.

These guys churned out a massive load of early 80's, New Wave, Punk, and Alternative music.

Random Puckey Memory

"Jim Puckey lived with us for a while in the 1990's. One day as I was hammering away at the piano with my Paul McCartney Complete sheet music book, I cued to Jim to sing a line. He instinctively held the repeating part down, I nodded to my Sister to take the second part. I then came in with the third part. Both Jim and Heather could harmonize by ear, so their parts stayed steady and solid, creating random cross-harmonies as the three separate lines, sung in rounds, inter-twined.

How ..... can I tell..... you about ........ my love one

I ........... Love .......... You .....................

I ... can't explain, the feelins plain to me, say can't you see

... "just another random Puckey moment". Ian Barclay
