Coming Together

As A Community!

Hello Knightdale! Nothing brings me more joy than being out in the community celebrating the people and events going on in our town! I wanted to take a few moments to share what's been going on with our citizens, as well as some community happenings you may be interested in.

Knightdale's Young Citizens Exhibit Service

at Town Council Meeting

In our September Town Council Meeting, we were honored to have students from Lockhart Elementary School join us to lead the Pledge of Allegiance.

Lucas Carpenter is a third-grade student in Ms. Atkinson's class, and Ann Marie Daramy is a third-grade student in Ms. Stample's class. At Lockhart, the Pledge of Allegiance is recited every day at 8:25AM, and Principal Daniel Zoller leads the pledge most days. However, he issued a challenge to students who want to take his place for the day. Recently, Ann Marie and Lucas wrote letters to Principal Zoller expressing their interest. Both students practiced all week to support the opening of this Town Council meeting, and they couldn’t have done a more impressive job!

We're grateful for your service, Ann Marie and Lucas! Thanks also to Principal Zoller and Ms. Stample for supporting them at the meeting.

Comprehensive Transportation Plan

Open House A Success!

The Open House for citizen comments regarding the Comprehensive Transportation Plan (CTP) was a great success! Knightdale community members, Council members and I came to hear about updates to the plan and listen to comments from the public. We had a great turnout, and we’re excited about the updates to the transportation network maps, roadway cross sections, and Hot Spot/mobility hub concepts.

The updated draft CTP will now be presented to the Land Use Review Board at their meeting on October 10, but the 30-day comment period will run until October 19, 2022. For more information on the CTP, visit ShiftKnightdale.com/recommendations.

Let's ACTIVATE GOOD in Knightdale!

The Town of Knightdale will be hosting a service-oriented luncheon on Thursday, October 13, from 11:30 am to 1 pm. I will be there working with Activate Good, an organization that identifies nonprofits and connects people who may be interested in volunteering with them.

I talked with several non-profits in our town, as well as citizens who want to improve their communities through service. Both wanted to know how, exactly, to make connections with and support each other. This luncheon is a first step in identifying and calling all nonprofits to come and share who they are and what they do.

If you are a nonprofit, I sincerely hope you’ll consider coming out to chat!

Mayor Day & Councilor Morris

Recognized by League of Women Voters!

Councilor Latatious Morris and I were recognized by the League of Women Voters of Wake County for Women's Equality Day!

The League is a nonpartisan, grassroots organization working to protect and expand voting rights and ensure everyone is represented in our democracy. They empower voters and defend democracy through advocacy, education, and litigation, at the local, state, and national levels. We count it a privilege to be celebrated by this amazing organization, and we thank them for the awards!

Upcoming Events

I hope you can join me at the following Town events!

Join Knightdale Parks and Recreation at Knightdale Station Park this Saturday for their Fall on First Avenue event! It's going to be a great day of autumn activities for the entire family.

The Town of Knightdale and Knightdale Police Department will honor Officer Ryan Hayworth on October 15 with a Community Day of Remembrance. We will look back on the indelible impact Ryan made on our town and celebrate his legacy of service together. Bring the entire family out; we hope to see you there!

Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or concerns about anything going on in our amazing town of Knightdale!
