 Happy Hearts and Honored History!

Hello, Knightdale! As we enter the month of February, I'm reminded of the amazing hearts of our citizens and employees. I'm also mindful that this is Black History Month, and I am grateful for all of the accomplishments of African-Americans in our town, state, nation and world.

I'm so excited about the many positive things going on around town. I wanted to share just a few things going on with our citizens and community.

Forestville Road Elementary Kicks off the January Council Meeting

The Council was pleased to have the 2022-2023 Teacher of the Year and 1st-grade students from Forestville Road Elementary join us in January to lead us in the Pledge of Allegiance!

Mrs. Porcelli is a veteran teacher of 21 years and has been at Forestville Road Elementary for the past 5 years. She just earned her National Board certification and was named Teacher of the Year for the 2022-2023 school year. Zoey Jennings, Kace (Case) Dewberry, and Dakota Allensworth are 1st-grade students in Mrs. Porcelli’s class. Zoey is an enthusiastic learner and aspires to be a professional soccer player. Kace shows initiative, looks for new ways to get involved, and enjoys playing basketball in his free time. Dakota is committed to doing her best while seeking new challenges. She is a member of three cheer teams and aims to coach cheer and dance.

We are grateful for the leadership of Mrs. Porcelli and her hard-working students!

The Community Survey

Results are In!

The Knightdale Community Survey has been completed, and the results are GREAT!

A representative from The ETC Institute, a national leader in market research for local government organizations, presented the results at our January Town Council meeting. You can see highlights of the survey above: Knightdale citizens have a positive perception of our town, and their satisfaction with our services is higher than other communities!

I'm so proud of the people who make this town such an amazing place to live, and it feels great knowing you do, too! We all will continue to provide excellent customer service and accountability in all we do!

Being a Food Judge is

Mmm Mmm Good!

I want to send a very special thank you to Reverend Dr. James Utley and the members of Malaby’s Crossroads Baptist Church for inviting local members of the community and me to judge their local cooking competition. We helped determine who had the best ribs, meatballs, and desserts. It was such a tasty time!

I was joined by Representative James Roberson, Councilor Latatious Morris, Councilor Mark Swan, and former Knightdale mayor Doug Boyd. I look forward to being a judge at the next event!

Let Freedom Ring!

I was honored to attend the MLK Day Interfaith Prayer Breakfast, sponsored by the Triangle Martin Luther King, Jr. Committee, last month. The Committee has a mission of educating the community by expanding upon Dr. King’s legacy.

The event was such an astounding show of unity in the community. It was the epitome of all that Dr. King spoke on and fought for. I met so many people working to make our communities better, and I got a chance to congratulate Dr. Dumas Alexander Harshaw, Jr., of First Baptist Church in Raleigh, on his upcoming retirement.

The keynote speaker for the event was Reverend Dr. Gregory Howard, and he did an amazing job!

It was great connecting with other leaders in the community, including the Mayor of Durham, Elaine O'Neil. We all had a great time and look forward to continuing Dr. King's vision in our communities.

There's a New President

In Town!

This past December I was voted as the new president of the Wake County Mayor's Association! Our group will get together and work collectively to provide excellent resources and services to our various communities. I am honored to be chosen for this position, and I look forward to our continued work together!

Thank you to the Knightdale town staff and community members for coming out to support me for this nomination!
