Fall is Fast Approaching!

Hello, Knightdale! Fall is right around the corner, though it's hard to tell with the summer temperatures still lingering. Nevertheless, the year is progressing, and so are things in town. I wanted to share some recent events I attended in Knightdale and throughout Wake County, as well as a few things going on with our citizens and community.

Mayor Day Supports Local High School Football Teams

Heads or tails? Only the toss-up would tell, and I was fortunate enough to be asked to flip the official coin at the Southeast Raleigh versus Enloe High School football game!

This game was the brainchild of City of Raleigh Mayor Pro Tem Corey Branch and Raleigh Raised Development founders Levelle Moton, Terrell Midgett, and CJ Mann. Raleigh Raised is an organization focused on positively impacting the Wake County community through innovative real estate development and construction services.

It was such an exciting game, but it was more rewarding to see Raleigh Raised and Mayor Pro Tem Branch donate $10,000 to schools in the southeast Raleigh area! So great!

Congratulations to the winning team--and MY alma mater--Southeast Raleigh High School! Way to go, Bulldogs!

Zebulon Mudcats Welcome

Wake County Mayors

I had such a great time at the Zebulon Mudcats Mayors Association Night! I joined Zebulon Mayor Glenn York and other mayors for a great baseball game and camaraderie! It's always great when we can celebrate and enjoy eastern Wake County activities and community events.

Thanks to Knightdale Town Manager Bill Summers, Community Relations Director Rachel Morris, and Councilor Latatious Morris for coming out to the game. Thanks also go out to Muddy the Mudcat! We're glad you had us out!

Mayor Day Celebrates New Class of LaunchKNIGHTDALE Graduates

I recently had the pleasure of speaking to the latest graduating class of the LaunchKNIGHTDALE program!

LaunchKNIGHTDALE is a program that supports and develops entrepreneurs and small businesses in Knightdale. It provides business development services, operating principles, tools and techniques, networking opportunities, mentoring support, and assistance finding capital for citizens who apply and are chosen to participate.

I'm so excited about the new endeavors each of these new business leaders will bring to our area. Congratulations to you all!

The 2023 Mayor's Academy Is In Session

The second class of the Knightdale Mayor's Academy has started, and I couldn't be more thrilled about the group of community-focused citizens participating!

The Mayor's Academy is a chance for town citizens to get to know all about how the Town of Knightdale functions. They meet the amazing leaders who help facilitate and maintain the Town and gain a better understanding of the regulations and processes that govern all Town procedures.

Through discussions, hands-on activities, and first-person interactions with elected officials and town staff, participants gain a strong awareness of how Knightdale operates, and how their involvement impacts the Town’s present and future.

If you'd like to be a part of the next class of Mayor's Academy participants, be sure to stay updated by visiting our new town website!

Did You Know?

Knightdale now has a new outdoor amenity just added to the Parks and Recreation roster of activities, the Gauntlet 9 Disc Golf Course!

Knightdale citizens came out to celebrate the grand opening and ribbon-cutting for the new disc golf course. It was so wonderful to see groups of friends and families come out to enjoy the day.

I was happy to talk to community members about the rules of the game, though I was a newbie to disc golf myself!

Luckily, I had an expert in Councilor Mark Swan, who showed me the ropes (and actually got a hole in one that day!). Special thanks to Chris Wiley, Director of Knightdale Parks and Recreation, for his diligent work bringing the Gauntlet 9 to Knightdale, and to Representative Roberson for coming out to support the grand opening. If you haven't yet, be sure to check out the new course!

Upcoming Events

I hope you can join me at the following Town event!

Fall on First Avenue

I hope you'll join me on Saturday, October 7, for our Fall on First Avenue event from 11 am to 2 pm! It will be a great day of enjoying craft vendors, great food, and an awesome fall day in Knightdale Station Park. What better way to celebrate the beginning of the fall season? Plan to come out!

Stay tuned to Knightdale Parks, Recreation and Cultural Programs for more information!

Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or concerns about anything going on in our amazing town of Knightdale!
