Fall is Here!

Hello, Knightdale! Fall is keeping us all busy, but I hope you're taking time to enjoy the colors of the changing leaves and moderate temperatures! I wanted to share some recent events I attended in Knightdale and throughout Wake County, as well as a few things going on with our citizens and community.

Knightdale High School Volleyball Team

Opens Council Meeting

The Town of Knightdale was honored to have the Knightdale High School Volleyball Team to lead our October Town Council meeting. We strive to stay connected to various organizations in our town, and we're especially proud of our Knightdale youth who take their time to lead and serve. Thank you so much, ladies!

Speaking of Service To Our Schools...

I want to send a huge THANK YOU to the Knightdale High School Business Alliance and Career Academy for bestowing certificates of appreciation to Knightdale Town Manager Bill Summers and myself! We were recognized for our service to the KHS students and community, and neither of us could be prouder!

The NC Mayor's Association Convenes in Asheville

The NC League of Municipalities hosted our annual Mayor's Association Convention, bringing together many of the local government leaders from the mountains to the coast. I traveled to gorgeous Asheville to attend and participate in the event with my mayoral colleagues.

This annual meeting gives all North Carolina mayors a chance to connect with each other and discuss innovative strategies that are working in various cities and towns across the state. We discussed current legislative goals and activities, as well as programs that are positively impacting NC communities.

I always learn a great deal in these meetings each year, but I'm also excited about telling other municipality leaders all the great things we have going on here in Knightdale. We all had great exchanges, and I can't wait to connect more with some of these amazing local government leaders!

Having a Blast at the Fall Hootenanny!

What. A. Time we had at the Fall Hootenanny and Food Festival, held at Haven Farm!

The event brought the entire community out for great food, live bluegrass and country rock music, farm games and so much more! I got a chance to interact with a number of community organizations and businesses, including A&M Roofing & Construction, a military veteran-owned and operated company. They're doing such great work!

Thanks to Cheerwine for sponsoring this event, everyone at Haven Farm and NC Eat and Play for producing an amazing community outing! I can't wait to do it again next year!

Mayor Day Attends the

Annual Legislative Conference

I had a great time at the 52nd Annual Legislative Conference in Washington, DC this summer! This year's theme was “Securing Our Democracy. Protecting Our Freedoms. Uplifting Our Culture.” It set the stage for wonderful conversations between a host of leaders who are passionate about shaping the future of African Americans in our country.

The mission of the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation, Inc. (CBCF) is to advance the global Black community by developing leaders, informing policy, and educating the public. Leaders from across the country gather to discuss public policy, economic empowerment and civic engagement.

I was so inspired by the speakers and solution-driven conversations happening throughout the conference. I'm so grateful for the opportunity to attend, and I look forward to attending next year--and bringing more Knightdale leaders with me.

Upcoming Events

I hope you can join me at the following Town event!

Knightdale Veterans Day Tribute

I hope you will join us and the Two Green Thumbs Garden Club at Knightdale Station Park on Sunday, November 12, for our annual Veterans Day Tribute. Our military veterans sacrificed so much to protect our freedom. We in Knightdale consider it an honor to show our appreciation to them with this program, and we would love to have you there!

Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or concerns about anything going on in our amazing town of Knightdale!
