HAPPY AUGUST, EVERYONE!

Hello Friends,

First, a heartfelt thank you to all the community members who joined us for our recent Open House. It was a joy to connect with so many of you and share just how much we appreciate your continued support.

There’s a lot happening this August—too much to list here! Be sure to check out our Calendar of Events so you don’t miss anything that interests you.

One especially meaningful event I’d like to highlight is the restoration of our iconic totem pole by renowned Tsimshian carver, David Boxley.

Originally carved in 1995 and dedicated to the spirit of community in Port Ludlow, this totem pole has stood as a symbol of shared heritage and connection.

We invite you to stop by Burner Point during the week to watch David and his team performing the restoraton work (Aug 4). Then, join us on Sunday for the main event (Aug 10)—everyone is welcome. For those planning to attend, we’re offering a delicious Cedar-Planked Salmon dinner following the ceremony.

Also, as mentioned in last month’s issue, we’re thrilled to announce our new partnership with the Humane Society of Jefferson County.

We’re helping them raise critical funds for their life-saving work, and we hope you’ll join us in supporting the cause.

And finally—because I can’t resist—one more shameless photo of my good boy:

Thanks for being part of this incredible community.

Cheers,

This is my reason for wanting to support those that care for our pets.

FEATURED FARM FOR AUGUST

We’re incredibly fortunate to work with such a vibrant community of local farmers and artisans, and each month we love sharing their stories with you.

For August, we’re shining a spotlight on Kodama Farm and Food Forest, a truly inspiring venture started by three young college graduates—Grace, Ben, and Matt—who decided to take a different path and grow something extraordinary. Today, we’re lucky to enjoy the bounty of their hard work and vision.

Photo Deja View Photography

Their story began in 2016 when they leased a piece of land in the Chimacum Valley. With grit and determination, they designed, sowed, and planted their first gardens—no doubt learning countless lessons along the way. Fast-forward to today, and Kodama Farm has blossomed into one of the valley’s most remarkable producers of fresh, flavorful produce.

One of my favorite memories with Kodama was the day they surprised us with what might have been the first and only Chimacum Valley bananas! We received just five small bananas, featured them on the menu that evening, and—unsurprisingly—they sold out before we even closed. Pretty amazing, right?

Of course, they tell their story far better than I can. I encourage you to visit their website to see all the innovative and exciting things they’re doing, or stop by their booth at the Chimacum Farmers Market—most importantly, to support them whenever you can.
