December 2024

Dear Friends,

Each fall we have the true privilege of welcoming alumni back to campus for Magenta Homecoming. As always, it was wonderful to visit with this year’s participants as they enjoyed another great celebration together.

During Saturday’s Presidential Homecoming Update, I was delighted to report that we have once again been ranked #1 in Ohio for Best Value and Social Mobility in the Regional Midwest by U.S. News and World Report. This recognition reflects our commitment to providing an excellent and affordable educational experience for all our students, positively impacting their lifelong economic, civic, and personal well-being.

Living out our commitment to offering best value demands that we continually review our educational offerings to make sure they are preparing the students of today for their future. For the past year, we have been engaged in a university-wide process of refreshing and implementing a strategic action plan that will continue to ensure relevance and responsiveness to student and community needs. This work has resulted in a revision of our mission statement, the crafting of value statements, and the development of multiple driving initiatives including the re-imagining of all our academic programs and the expansion of our adult learning programs. The entire campus has been involved in the creation of THRIVE, our updated action plan, and we are excited about the wonderful opportunities that this work is generating for current and future Muskingum students. You will learn more about this in our upcoming annual report, now called THRIVE (formerly IMPACT), which will be published in early 2025.

These are exciting days at Muskingum and your ongoing support is both essential and greatly appreciated.

With warmest wishes for a joyous holiday season,

President Sue Hasseler
