Dear Friends,
We often say that at Muskingum, “we educate the whole student for the whole world.” A delegation from Muskingum, including Trustee Nik Deogun ’91, VP for Institutional Advancement Paul McClelland, Director of Cultural Engagement & Inclusion Valerie Yonker Smith '00, and myself had the privilege of experiencing that mission in our recent trip to Dubai, UAE and Delhi and Dehradun, India.
While traveling, we connected with multiple alumni, many of whom, like Nik, attended India’s prestigious Doon School before coming to Muskingum. Muskingum’s connection with the Doon School began in 1978 and has resulted in over 50 shared alumni. We are delighted to be renewing and expanding this powerful partnership.
In addition to the Doon School, we also visited several high schools and universities as we seek to expand our global partnerships. Currently, Muskingum is part of a consortium of over 30 international universities with whom we participate in student exchanges and cross-cultural learning experiences. At one of the Doon alumni events, our host remarked, “Yesterday we were strangers; today we are friends.” International connections like those we are building in the UAE and India along with those forged with schools and universities across the world strengthen the Muskingum educational experience for all.
As we express our deep appreciation to the Muskingum alumni who made this experience possible, we also thank each one of you for the ways in which you build community and connections wherever you are; together, we continue to impact the whole world!
With warm regards,
President Sue Hasseler
