Greetings, Unity Temple members and friends,

I am so glad to be with you! I started work yesterday and am drinking from the proverbial fire hose. I know it will take some time to get to know all of you as well as the congregation’s culture, history, and aspirations. I relish this getting-to-know-you period and am glad that the longer developmental ministry timeframe of four to seven years provides greater spaciousness for this.

I look forward to meeting as many of you as I can at worship services (starting this Sunday), events and activities like the all-congregation fall retreat and lunches with the ministers, and (of course) meetings. Additionally, stay tuned for several in person and Zoom conversations with me that are designed to help us get to know each other. I anticipate these conversations happening toward the end of August and into September.

I know that these past years have not been easy for individuals, families, and communities. Numerous staff transitions layered on top of pandemic have made this period especially challenging for Unity Temple. Even on day one, I am also sensing excitement about what’s next and a deep streak of resilience.

I can’t wait to meet you!

Warmly,

Roger
