Greetings Members and Happy Halloween,

I wanted to take this time to introduce myself and provide a brief overview of what I will hope to accomplish as we finish out the year. I am honored and excited to have the opportunity to help the Saranac Lake Area Chamber of Commerce achieve its fullest potential. There is a lot of work to do, but with your help we can accomplish great things. As I start my position, I will take the great work our Board of Directors and Interim Director, Dani Delaini, did with the creation of a strategic plan and put the plan into action.

Also, as the incoming Executive Director for the Chamber, I recognize that communication is key to a well rounded and functioning organization. Over the next couple of months, I will start to reach out to each and every one of you, so that I can listen to your concerns and hear your ideas for how to improve the business and community environment in the Saranac Lake Area. This fundamental idea will help guide the Chamber to fulfill its promise to promote, convene, and service its members. Of course, if you have ideas you would like to share or pressing concerns, please do not hesitate to reach me via email at director@slareachamber.org or via phone at (518) 891 - 1991.

As we move into November there are a number of important upcoming activities and events:

  • The Saranac Lake Downtown Revitalization Initiative is closing the application process for project proposals this Friday, Nov. 2nd. If you are working on a project proposal please be sure to have your information submitted to Jamie Konkoski at the Village’s Community Development Office by the close of business on Friday, Nov. 2nd. Proposals can be found on the Village’s website and submitted to comdev@saranaclakeny.gov.

  • The Chamber is hosting a Health Insurance Info Session and Open House at 8:30 am on Nov. 9th at the Harrietstown Town Hall, Town Board Room. The information session and open house will cover 2019 rates, new health plans and companies, special Chamber plans, changes to regulations, and much more. Please RSVP here: Health Insurance Session RSVP.

  • Finally, Coakley Home and Hardware is offering a special discount to fellow Chamber members on ice melt while supplies last. Please see the attached letter from the team at Coakley Home and Hardware.
There are more exciting events and activities occurring over the next couple months but I'll leave you with this for now, it's an exciting time to live in the Saranac Lake Area. As we finish out the year, let's look ahead to the future and the progress we can make together.

Sincerely,

Patrick Murphy
