Good (and Complicated) Grief: Caring for Clergy Experiencing Personal and Professional Loss

The first of this three-part series begins with practical techniques for rostered and lay leaders as they continue to face loss both personal and professional.
Are you currently a clergyperson, deacon, or lay minister wrestling with loss during our current pandemic? How do you manage your own grief in the midst of caring for others also experiencing loss? This workshop provides strategies and interventions for caregivers seeking to practice self-care and resist transference and projection in their ministry. Thus, grief can be good and complicated…join us to receive help navigating this journey.

Participants can receive continuing education credit and will receive a certificate upon completion.
 
Workshops will be offered with Spanish and Mandarin translation.
Workshop Speaker

Rev. Dr. Danielle J. Buhuro is passionate about issues of race, gender and sexuality. Dr. Buhuro serves as Executive Director and Lead CPE Supervisor of Sankofa CPE Center, LLC — which offers innovative online Clinical Pastoral Education programming along with unique social justice-oriented clinical work settings and prepares clergy chaplains for board certification. She is also the Director of Movement Chaplaincy for Faith Matters Network. Dr. Buhuro is author of “Spiritual Care In An Age of #BlackLivesMatter: Examining the Spiritual and Prophetic Needs of African Americans Living In A Violent America," and has also served as a CPE Supervisor at Advocate Aurora South Suburban, Trinity and Christ Hospitals in Chicago, Illinois.

An ordained clergy person of the United Church of Christ, Dr. Buhuro attended Chicago Theological Seminary, where she earned the Master of Divinity and Doctor of Ministry degrees respectively. She’s currently a Ph.D student studying in the area of social media identity, violence and pastoral theology.
 
Dr. Buhuro has also served on the national board of directors of ACPE: The Standard for Spiritual Care & Education. She facilitates numerous workshops nation-wide on African American Pastoral Care and African-centered psychology.
