QUOTE ****

The m.v. “HOEGH XIAMEN” was on a laden voyage with vehicles/cars from Freeport, Texas and Jacksonville, Florida to ports in Nigeria, when a fire broke out in the upper decks on 4th June 2020, shortly after completion of loading operations at Blount Island, Jacksonville, USA.

Firefighters of the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department, together with Professional Salvors Resolve Salvage & Fire (Americas) Inc. contracted by Shipowners under a Lloyd’s Open Form 2020 (LOF 2020) dated 4th June 2020, commenced firefighting operations. The fire was deemed extinguished on 12th June 2020 and the vessel was redelivered by Salvors to Shipowners on 27th June 2020. Salvors have also entered into a Wreckhire contract to remove all vehicles/cars currently stowed on board the vessel.

Salvors have instructed Albatross Adjusters Limited to arrange for collection of Salvage securities and supporting documentation from the Owners of sound vehicles/cars under the LOF 2020 and to co-ordinate the release of those properties once satisfactory security has been submitted. Salvors are not involved with a possible on-forwarding of sound vehicles/cars to final destination, upon submission of satisfactory salvage security. If applicable, this is a matter for the Owners of the vehicles/cars to follow up under the relevant Bill of Lading.
