Grinchmas on the Green

Celebrate the season by joining the Plainfield Park District’s annual tree lighting ceremony November 26 at Village Green. Enjoy hot cocoa and a cookie (while supplies last) while waiting for the Grinch and Santa to arrive and help with the lighting of our 30-foot tree and surrounding trees decorated by businesses and members of the Plainfield community. Photo opportunities with Santa and the Grinch are available after the lighting. 

Grinchmas Trees for Sale

Purchase a tree to decorate for the Annual Grinchmas on the Green event November 26. Trees are set up with lights for you to decorate before the Grinch arrives. Trees are available for purchase until November 9. Tree decorating occurs November 23-25. 

You Can't Catch Me Fun Run

Registration is open for the Second Annual You Can't Catch Me Fun Run to be held November 26 at Village Green. Participants receive a T-shirt and swag bag. Stick around after the event for the Annual Grinchmas on the Green.

Youth Basketball Leagues for K-8

Volunteer coaches introduce participants to the fundamentals of playing basketball through weekly practices and weekend games. The league emphasizes proper techniques, knowledge of the rules, team strategy, participation and fun. Practices start in December, taking time off for the holidays, with games starting in January. 

Video Message from Santa

Have Santa send a personalized video message to your little one(s) ages 1-13. Order deadline is December 10. Cost is $15 per family (only one form per family required).

Early Childhood Programs

Last chance to register for early childhood programs! 

Lunch Bunch (ages 3-6) - Extend your child's preschool or kindergarten day where they build on their social learning, develop self-help skills and create new relationships.

Explore STEAM (ages 4-5) - Preschoolers are guided through different hands-on activities involving science, technology, engineering, art and math.

Munchkins on the Move (ages 2-3) - Participants burn off energy by climbing, jumping, dancing and singing. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Fun Fridays (ages 2-5) - Fridays are turned into "fundays" with themed crafts. 

Adult Fitness Classes

Last chance to register for adult fitness programs at the Prairie Activity & Recreation Center! 

Low Intensity Interval Training (LIIT) - Class consists of intervals that provide a balanced, total-body workout. Class runs 6 to 6:45 p.m., Tuesdays, October 25 through December 13.

Strength & Cardio for Active Adults - Class includes cardio, strength, balance and toning and is designed for people looking for a safe, total body workout that can be modified for all fitness levels. Class runs 9 to 10 a.m., Saturdays, October 29 through December 17, and 6 to 7 p.m., October 31 through December 19.
