LCHIP Awards $100,000 Matching Grant
to MHHA
Dear Friends,
Even in winter, there is a lot of activity at the Mill. Here are some important highlights:
In celebrating the award in Concord on Dec. 8th, Gov. Maggie Hassan said, "The Land and Community Heritage Investment Program is critical to protecting our natural, historical and cultural resources, and I am proud that we restored funding for LCHIP in 2013 and maintained that commitment in our current bipartisan budget.
"For every dollar invested by
LCHIP, we see a significant return on investment through the economic activity generated by those conservation efforts. This year's grants will support important projects across the state that will preserve our natural beauty and protect our rich history and vibrant culture."

We are honored to be among the recipients, especially considering the many important projects LCHIP funds. Together with the generosity and support of the community, this enables us to begin the first critical phase of work at Chase's Mill, specifically work to stabilize the building and prevent further deterioration.
Stabilization Work To Begin -
In January and February the Building Committee actively solicited Requests for Proposals for Construction Managers and Architects. After careful review, contracts have been signed with
Ingram Construction
and
DB Architects, both
in Keene.
Ingram Construction
has received numerous awards for its work on historic renovation and many of you will recognize
DB Architects
as belonging to Dan Bartlett who served on MHHA's board almost from its beginning.
Bay and Paul Foundation Awards a $10,000 Grant - Our success is possible through the on-going generosity of individuals, businesses, and foundations. In early March, we received a $10,000 grant from the
Bay and Paul Foundation in New York. This puts us more than 1/2 way to reaching the $100,000 match and each month we are applying to additional foundations for grants. Please consider
making a recurring or one-time donation of cash or stock. You can do this
online or by check to MHHA, P.O. Box 825 / Keene, NH 03431.
Get to Know Your Board
- A special recognition to board member
Helen Frink
who spearheaded the LCHIP application, serves as our primary liaison to LCHIP, and continues to seek additional grants and other funding opportunities.

2017 - a Year of Building -
Building together could be o
ur motto for 2017. As
stabilization work begins on the Mill, we are building in other ways. Our goals for 2017 include:
- Exceeding the LCHIP match so that rehabilitation work can continue beyond initial stabilization efforts and into the next phase of work;
- Continuing to develop MHHA as a long-term, viable steward of Chase's Mill by building and expanding our best organizational practices,
- Expanding the scope and depth of our key volunteers, including the Board members;
- Expanding and strengthening the network of supporters and friends who are our community.
As always, we deeply appreciate your help and support.
Thank you.
Sincerely,
Sharon Spaulding and Bob Brown
President & Vice President
