Summer Updates from BFCCPS

Dear BFCCPS Community,

I hope you are having a wonderful start to the summer! While the school year is over for students and teachers; I can report that things are still incredibly busy back at BFCCPS!

On Wednesday, we celebrated an exciting milestone for the BFCCPS Expansion Project. Members of the Benjamin Franklin Educational Foundation, the BFCCPS Administration, our bank partners, architects, project managers, Board of Trustees and Capital Campaign Volunteers celebrated with a Groundbreaking Ceremony. Please visit this photo gallery for the highlights.

I truly wish I could have invited every single one of you to join us, but it is a very active job site and can't accommodate us all at once! Don't worry though because we are already investigating when we can have a larger group out to the site to see the continued progress, stay tuned!

I hope you saw the very exciting announcement that Mr. Jeff Levering, has been hired as our new Assistant Head of School. He will be joining Mr. Perna and I this summer to help us prepare for next school year. Please check your emails for his introduction and brief biography. Welcome Mr. Levering!

Starting on July 2nd the BFCCPS Central Office will commence our summer schedule and will be open Monday through Thursday from 9 am to 3pm. (As a side note we will be closed both Wednesday July 4th and Thursday July 5th in observance of Independence Day.)

I wish each and every one of you a happy and safe summer vacation! Please be sure to send us postcards from your travels, and check in with the group on the BFCCPS Parents Page!

Similarly all School Supply lists for the 2018-2019 school year have been posted to the website instead of printed and sent home.

Please be sure to visit the BFCCPS Website to print and download your child(ren)'s school supply lists. There are both classroom supply lists, art room supply lists provided for all grade levels.

Students in Grades 4, 5 and 6 have binder order forms available; please note that there is a firm order deadline of July 26th for all binder orders .

Brick Orders
Now Online!

We invite all BFCCPS Families to honor their students and alumni with a personalized brick to be installed in the courtyard at our new home at 500 Financial Park Drive. Personalized bricks are priced at $100 per brick.

The brick sale is the first major campaign for the fundraising for our gymnasium and playground, and we need your help. Orders for personalized bricks will be accepted through September 1, 2018. The online ordering system is now available, please click below to place your order online.

We hope this brick sale not only helps us meet our fundraising goals, but also provides an opportunity for your family to display your contribution and commitment to our school throughout this journey and as we move into our new home.

Change to After School School Use
for the 2018-2019 School Year
Please note that due to restrictions with respect to our use of the building after school hours, at this time it doesn't look like we will be able to offer Homework Club during the 2018-2019 school year. We wanted to provide you all with as much notice as possible since we recognize that this change may require families to secure alternate arrangements for after-school coverage. If there are any changes in the ability of the building after school we will be in touch as soon as possible.

Students in Grades 5-8 who need extra help on assignments can obtain a study hall pass during homeroom or register for our Middle School Morning Care program. The Middle School Morning care offering is a quiet time to work on projects or homework and is available from 7:30 to 8 am. More information and a registration form for morning care will be available later this summer. Individual classroom teachers may also be able to provide assistance before school if necessary, please contact teachers by email to make arrangements.
