Dear Spirit Loft Community,

It is with heavy hearts that we have decided to temporarily pause group classes and workshops. This hiatus will be in effect on a week-to-week basis and we will provide weekly updates via e-newsletter and social media.

Following the lead of the City of Toronto, we recognize that antiviral sanitation is no longer enough and that we have a responsibility to do our part in reducing the burden on our health care system. This hiatus follows health experts' advice to practice social distancing - one of the most effective ways to flatten the curve proactively.

In our 10 years in operation, this is the most difficult decision we’ve faced but we feel it is best for our community members, our staff and teachers, and in solidarity with our great city’s efforts as a whole to contain the spread of COVID-19.

While we are deeply saddened that we cannot offer a brick and mortar space for community practice during this time, we are working towards online offerings to support your home practice throughout this hiatus. We thank you for your patience while we make arrangements to adapt our programming to this platform and will share details in the coming days.

Today, we are offering a gift of a 30 minute practice video entitled “A Simple Practice for Challenging Times”. This is an all levels, inclusive movement practice which requires very little space and no special equipment.
It goes without saying that these times will be challenging for us all, as practitioners, as instructors and as business owners. We are putting our creative thinking caps on to find ways to support your home practice, our teachers and the studio during this temporary hiatus.

What will happen with my group class passes?

Expiry dates will be extended for all group class passes. If you have signed up for a special introductory class pass, you will have full access to the studio for two weeks when we reopen.

What if I have signed up for a workshop?

If you have registered for a workshop scheduled to occur between March 16th – April 6th, 2020, we will contact you individually to communicate postponement and refund options.

What will happen with memberships?

Memberships will be put on hold and reactivated with no loss of days when the studio reopens.

When will group classes resume?

Our goal is to reopen as soon as we can do so safely. At this time our tentative re-open date is early April 2020.

We will continue to monitor the recommendations of our governments and Health Canada as the situation develops. As events unfold, we will update you through our email newsletter and on social media (links included below).

Taking Care

In addition to practicing good respiratory hygiene, here are some other things we can do to keep our physical, mental and emotional health going strong during these challenging times: proper sleep hygiene, proper hydration & nutrition, daily walks, nature/forest bathing, movement practice, stillness practice, music & dance, reaching out to loved ones to show your support and/or to ask for help.

Thank you for your support of the Spirit Loft Movement Centre!

Spirit Loft is and always has been sustained by the ongoing commitment and support of our community. We and our instructors are deeply grateful for your continued support during these difficult times. Please take care of yourselves, and each other, and stay connected! We'd love to hear from you and we will be in touch again shortly.

In LOVE & GRATITUDE,
Andre, Catalina & the Spirit Loft Team
