RIBBON CUTTING
Craft Boutique of Grand Lake
A Ribbon Cutting was held by the Grove Area Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors on Friday, June 9, 2023, for Craft Boutique of Grand Lake, located at 3 W. 3rd in downtown Grove. Owner Debbie Scheidt-Chapman and good friend (and fellow craft enthusiast) Anita Hayes-Jackson wanted to have a large space where they and others could do craft classes as well as shop for supplies. It just so happened that Grove was also desperately in need of a craft supply store and, in March of this year, Debbie, her husband John, Anita and some very helpful friends and locals began the process of creating Craft Boutique of Grand Lake. Chapman says that she has “felt the love” from the people of Grove before the store had opened and feels that a combination of “comradery and a sense of community” is what led to the boutique being opened in only 4 months.
Craft Boutique of Grand Lake has got it all: yarn, cross stitch, embroidery, DMC Floss, beads and jewelry making supplies, acrylics, watercolors, oils, pencils, pastels, brushes, canvas, paper, sketch books, card stock, embellishments, stamp sets, ink, kids crafts and, soon, framing and matting services. There will also be a schedule full of workshops and classes on everything from Beginner’s Sewing and Mosaics to Watercolor Pencils to Resin Jewelry.
Ambassadors attending the Ribbon Cutting were Sharie Cox – Grove’s Royal Liquor, Judi Johnson – McGraw Realtors and Rod Hurt – Grove Sun. Also attending the Ribbon Cutting were Nancy Morgan, Donna Foster, Debbie Scheidt-Chapman and husband John Chapman, Anita Hayes-Jackson, Krystal Wick, Karen Gross, Pat Armbrister and Chamber Executive Vice-President Connie King.
RIBBON CUTTING/OPEN HOUSE
Grand Lake Sailing Club
The Grove Area Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors held a Ribbon Cutting on Saturday, June 10, 2023, for the Grand Lake Sailing Club’s 50th Anniversary Celebration Open House at 31700 S. 605 Rd. Many people attended the celebration, and the weather was nearly perfect. Grand Lake Sailing Club Commodore Fred Overstreet kicked off the Ribbon Cutting by addressing the crowd and expressing thanks to the Clubhouse Building Committee for their hard work over the past year. He also thanked the Sailing Club members that helped prepare for the Open House event.
GLSC was started in 1962 as Port Grove Sailing Club when a few members wished to have a sailing club on Grand Lake. In 1972 plans were made for the purchase of 10 beautiful acres, the present property, located on Dilar Cove off the main body of Grand Lake. Plans were made in 2021 to replace the old clubhouse with a newer, larger one. The new clubhouse is twice the size of the former Clubhouse at just under 1,000 sq. ft. Membership with the GLSC is open to everyone – boat owner or not – and includes many benefits. Visit ______ to check out their member profile, Facebook page and website.
Ambassadors attending the event were Rod Hurt – Grove Sun, Jay Alexander – Grand Savings Bank, Todd Franke – AmeriSpec Inspection Services, John Sawyer – Sawyer Phillips Insurance and Connie King – Grove Area Chamber Executive Vice-President.
CHAMBER CONNECTION LUNCHEON
The Grove Area Chamber of Commerce held its Connection Luncheon on Thursday, June 9, 2023, at the Grove City Hall Community Center. The special guest speaker for this luncheon was Carol LaRue, author of “The Art of Self Health” and owner of LifeCentrics which provides services like Self-Health speaking engagements, Resilience Retreats, and coaching services for individuals, schools, businesses and organizations. Carol spoke passionately about her own struggles with grief, trauma, health problems and stress and her mission to help others find their paths to self-love and “self-health”. If you would like to begin your path to self-health, you can contact Carol today or attend one of two “Reset Retreats” facilitated by Carol and LifeCentrics being held at Lendonwood Gardens in September 2023 and March 2024. We would like to thank Carol and LifeCentrics for being our guest speaker. We would also like to thank Grand River Abstract & Title Company for sponsoring the delicious taco bar lunch from Mulligans. Last but certainly not least, we’d like to thank Grand Savings Bank for always coming early (and staying a little late) to set up tables and chairs. We appreciate you guys!
Do you have a neighbor that takes care of their yard like no one else? Or perhaps you drive by some gorgeous landscaping on your way to work that makes you smile? If so, nominate them for the Grove Area Chamber of Commerce's "Yard of the Month" and they could win some great stuff! Call, come by or email the chamber the address (and name/phone number if you can) of the Grove area home that you want to nominate.
