Mind & Body Wellness Series - 1st Tuesday of each month FREE! 2-3pm

The Parkinson's Support Group meets on the second Thursday each month at 2:00 p.m. The meeting is open to YMCA members & non-members. Caregivers are encouraged to attend. If you or someone you know has Parkinson's, there is a Parkinson's Combination Exercise Class and Speech Therapy Class that meets every Thursday from 3:00 to 4:00 in the YMCA's downstairs group fitness room. There are chair exercises for the body and speech exercise to strengthen the voice and the muscles used for swallowing. The class is free.

HOLIDAY LEGISLATIVE BREAKFAST

Guest Speaker Lt Governor Matt Pinnell

The Holiday Legislative Breakfast was held December 19th at Shangri-La Resort, with special guest speaker Lt Governor Matt Pinnell. He gave an update on state highlights of past years, and presented a 2025 state forecast. The Lt Governor expressed his appreciation for the success of the aerospace industry and tourism around the Grand Lake Region. Also in attendance were Representative Josh West, Representative Steve Bashore, Senator Tom Woods, Representative Rusty Cornwell, Crystal Campbell Field Rep for US Senator Markwayne Mullin, and David Poindexter Delaware County Commissioner District One. Mike Williams, Chairman of the Chamber's Legislative Committee, is pictured as well.

"Spirit of the Chamber" Awards were presented to members that have shown outstanding support and commitment to the 2024 Program of Work for the Grove Area Chamber of Commerce: Bank of Grand Lake, Cherokee Nation & Casino, Devitt Properties, Grand Country Pest Control, Grand Lake Casino, Grand River Abstract & Title Co., Grand River Dam Authority, Grand Savings Bank, Grove Convention & Tourism & City of Grove, Grove's Royal Liquor, Har-Ber Village, Indigo Sky Casino, INTEGRIS Health Grove Hospital, Patricia Island Country Club, REMAX Grand Lake, and Shangri-La Resort. Thank you to all of our breakfast sponsors. There was a huge turnout and we greatly appreciate everyone's attendance and continued support of the chamber.

RIBBON CUTTING

YMCA Bill Skea & Joan Vermaire Gymnasium

Thursday, December 19th, the Grove Area Chamber Ambassadors held a ribbon cutting and attended an open house for the new Bill Skea and Joan Vermaire Gymnasium at the Grand Lake Family YMCA Russell Mosburg, Chairperson at Tri-state Family YMCA, led the presentation and spoke about how this project was "of the community, for the community, and by the community". Other speakers were, Tri-state Family YMCA's CEO Ben Coffey, Associate Executive Director Adrian Arnold, Grove City Manager Debbie Bottoroff, and Jay Alexander. Joan Vermaire was presented flowers and thanked for her and Bill Skea's dedication to the fruition of the Grand Lake Family YMCA back in 2002. The ceremony ended with Joan and Adrian cutting the ribbon and the community celebrated this wonderful new addition.
