Your Girl Scouts Bi-Weekly News & Updates
Dear friends,

Since Juliette Gordon Low founded our movement, friendship and inclusion have been fundamental values of the Girl Scout experience. We even have a "holiday," World Thinking Day, dedicated to understanding the experiences of girls in other cultures.

However, we fall short as a nation in recognizing systemic social injustices that affect our own girls and communities and even our organization.

Fortunately, we are also a movement where self reflection and taking action to create a better world are also fundamental values. We prepare Girl Scouts to be leaders who speak up for fairness, justice, compassion, and equality.

In this issue, we're providing a collection of resources to help you and your girls take action. One resource is a patch (with versions for all levels) that can help girls  learn about the rich diversity of cultures and how to better relate to others, explore history of race and ethnicity in the United States, and how they can make a difference. This patch, "Diversity. Inclusion. Together." was provided by Girl Scouts of River Valleys, which serves Minneapolis.

If any of your troops choose to earn the River Valleys patch this summer, please consider asking the girls to invite a friend to learn with you. That's a concrete step to be the leaders our world needs right now. On a personal note, if any Cadette, Senior or Ambassador girls pursue this patch, please invite me as I'd like to earn it along with you.
