Greetings!

We are so excited to finally debut our fall retreat details for Stoke the Fire Within Yoga Yoga Retreat in Beaver, Utah. We will be spending October 2nd-6th at a beautiful lodge in Beaver Utah, practicing yoga daily and hiking in nearby parks. Lindsey and Janine are preparing a relaxing getaway, with sessions focused on grounding and gratitude. May is bringing some exciting events! We have special events designed to tone your body, as well as classes to tune in your mind. Please not the FREE Meditation class offered on Saturday May 11th at 10 am (perfect after 9 am yoga!). Check out the details and links below for more information on all our May events.

As the calendar seems to fly by we are busy working on summer schedules. We are excited to offer more options over the summer and have some pretty sweet events. Our schedule will be updated by mid-May and our new classes will start the week of June 9th.

Aerial Flips and Tricks

Saturday, May 4th 10:15-11:15

Join Lindsey in this playful class designed to allow you free time to learn new aerial poses. Class includes a sequence and demo of new tricks for you to try with personal instruction.

Barre + Blooms

Sunday May 12th, 9-10:30 a.m

Celebrate a special woman in your life this Mothers Day! Join Sarah for an invigorating class, uplifting mindful activity, and refreshments before pampering yourself on this special day. This 90 minute session includes a special Mothers Day bloom.

Book the session for you at $40, or convince a friend (or two, or three!) for a discounted rate if you register together.

Sunday, May 19th 3:30-5 pm at Sturgis Park

Join us as we celebrate Sarah Sailer turning 40! Her birthday wish is for 40 friends to work out with her and cheer her on for her birthday burpees! We will meet at Sturgis Park for a high energy + low impact workout with a lake view & then enjoy a relaxing yoga class. We will celebrate Sarah afterward with birthday treats and bubbly. Aerial Yin Yoga + Soundbath

Sunday May 5th, 6:15-7:30

Enjoy an elevated state of relaxation with the assistance of our aerial silks. Join Amee and Lindsey for a Yin silk class to surrender your body to your practice with minimal effort. Quiet your thoughts and connect with your breath while relieving muscle tissue and stress. Class will end with a relaxing sound bath. Space is limited, register today!

Free Vipassana Meditation Session

Saturday May 11th 10-11 a.m

Join us for a free meditation session. This class will focus on Vipassana meditation. Vipassana can be described as a clear awareness of what is happening as it is happens. This practice can help you remain in the present, detach from your mind, and reduce the suffering that comes from being caught up in your thoughts, and it only takes about ten minutes of formal practice a day.

About the instructor, Hannah Borgen: "I’m a long-time practitioner of yoga and more recently, a meditator. I fell in love with meditation and its benefits very quickly, and I want to share that with you. Many people have an idea of what meditation is about, but quickly write it off because they think it’s about silencing the mind or sitting cross-legged for much longer than they would like. I would like to show you that meditation can and does look very different from that. I would love to help you unlock your freedom from within so please join me on May 11th at 10 am."

Mothers Day Gift Ideas!

Need gift inspiration for a yogi in your life? Or want to pass along some subtle hints of what you'd like to accompany your breakfast in bed? Check out some gift ideas sure to please any yogi.

Yoga Mats. In searching for a yoga mat, first decide which thickness you prefer. Ranging from 1/16- to a 1/4-inch, (also sold in millimeters) choose your mat width based on your comfort level on a hardwood floor. A standard mat is in the 1/8-inch range, but if you like extra cushion under your knees look for more, or if you regularly pack your mat in a suitcase, choose a slim design. 

Also consider the material and texture you'd like in a mat. Traditionally, mats have been made of PVC and are able to withstand years of use. But, natural and recycled rubber, jute and organic cotton are options as well. Texture and the "stickiness" of a mat may impact the comfort and traction during your practice.

Props . Every yogi needs some good props to deepen a home practice. Yoga blocks are excellent tools to have on hand, as well as bolsters, knee pads, bags and straps. Again, consider the needs of the recipient to choose the material and thickness. (P.S-Amazon has some great deals on yoga supplies from a variety of vendors right now!)

Books . With so many to choose from, it's often hard to find the "perfect" read, but here are a few of our current favorite selections:

Bring youtube and yogi sensation Dianne’s Bondy's body-positive yoga philosophy to your mat. No matter who you are, what you look like, or what your abilities are, you can do all 50 poses in Dianne Bondy’s new book,  Yoga for Everyone: 50 Poses for Every Type of Body .  

The Yoga Sutras of Patañjali  by Ediwn F. Bryant is great for anyone who wants to incorporate more traditional yoga philosophy into their practice. The translations are faithful, clear and easy to read.

For the wild, nature-loving yogi, check out The Tracker   by Tom Brown Jr. A true visionary who understands our relationship to nature, his books are inspired and full of exercises you can try the next time you go hiking.

How to Meditate: A Practical Guide to Making Friends with Your Mind by Pema Chodron is a great one for beginner meditators. In this comprehensive guide, Chödrön breaks down the practice of meditation into easy-to-follow steps so that you can develop your own long term routine.
