Powerful Pairs: An and Dorothy

5/5 gold stars is the stellar rating that An would give coach Dorothy because she makes reading super fun and enjoyable. An loves to surprise Dorothy with his huge repertoire of random facts during their sessions. He knows about everything, from cute foxes to stinging bees.

Bilingual Coaches Help with Family Outreach

About half of Team Read's student readers come from households where English is not their first language. As many families are more comfortable communicating in their home language, Team Read recruited bilingual coaches who speak the most common languages in Seattle Public Schools (Spanish, Somali, Vietnamese, Chinese, Amharic, Tagalog and Arabic) to make phone calls to families before programming began this fall.

Strengthening Coach Workshops

In recent years, Team Read has been carefully considering how we deepen the personal growth of our coaches. This includes providing new and improved professional development workshops for teens to work on important skills needed for tutoring and future careers.

Partner Spotlight: Adobe

Team Read is fortunate to have been selected, more than once, by Adobe’s employee-driven philanthropic giving that has provided grant support for our after school and summer tutoring programs.
