This Month in the Garden

Transplanting and Direct Sowing Tips

Since we've been on an onion kick lately, we thought we'd share a great video from Red Wagon Plants about transplanting your onions. Also, Fruition Seeds May Calendar has a list with photos of which veggies (and flowers) are best to plant now.

Lastly, we are enjoying Vermont Public's new gardening feature Sprouted. We love the animations and emphasis on soil health. There's even an inspiring Gardening Playlist!

Volunteer in a Garden

Many hands make light work

Spring is here, and our gardens are growing—so is our need for volunteers! From spreading compost to weeding and installing deer fencing, there’s plenty to dig into.

Big thanks to UVM’s Kappa Alpha Theta for their hard work during Day of Service!

City Market Co-op members: you can earn member work hours when you volunteer with VGN.

Network Asks & Opportunities

Common Ground & Kiss the Ground now streaming

Last year VGN hosted the Vermont premiere of Common Ground. It is now available to stream on Amazon Prime along with it's prequel Kiss the Ground.

Also, Organic Rising is another film we value with local voices from Long Wind Farm and the Real Organic Project. Host a watch party and start a conversation in your community.
