Healthy Families Hillsborough is celebrating 30 years of strengthening families and empowering parents! Since 1996, the program has grown to seven home visiting teams serving more than 600 families annually, with over 8,500 families enrolled throughout its history.

This milestone year also brought reaccreditation from Healthy Families America and a Family Fun Day at All People's Park, where more than 200 parents and children celebrated together.

Through parenting support, developmental screenings and community connections, the program continues to make a lasting impact, with 99% of families who complete the program remaining free of verified findings of child abuse or maltreatment.

Here's to 30 years of stronger families and brighter futures!

Through Safe Baby Plus, families receive developmental screenings that help parents track and celebrate their child's growth.

One first-time parent shared how Safe Baby Plus and Nurse-Family Partnership, offered in partnership with REACHUP, inc., have supported their journey:

“Thank you for providing us with the ASQs to help us see our baby thriving through his milestones. It has been wonderful having county services provided: Nurse Family Partnership, Reach Up, Safe Baby. You all have made this first time parent experience go even better! I wish more people knew about this or took advantage of the programs.”

  • 395 resource referrals provided to connect youth with needed services and support.
  • 642 youth and families engaged through community outreach events.

Through collaborations with USF Health Ybor Youth Clinic, Crisis Center of Tampa Bay and For the Love of You Therapy for Teens & Young Adults, Teen Connect has strengthened referrals and connections to mental health services for youth identified as needing additional support.

Team members Cherith Belmonte and Jessica Reynolds represented the Coalition at the National Shaken Baby Syndrome Conference in Nashville, Tennessee.

During the conference, Cherith and Jessica presented on Safe Baby and the Integration of Period of PURPLE Crying Education Tools, highlighting the importance of educating and empowering caregivers to better understand infant crying, manage frustration, and prevent abusive head trauma.

Their presentation showcased how the Coalition's Safe Baby initiative incorporates evidence-based education and practical resources to help families navigate the challenges of caring for infants while promoting safe, supportive caregiving practices.
