Rain Rain Go Away… Come back another day!

We all go on vacation expecting the weather to be absolutely beautiful with blue, sunny skies, and perfect temperatures. But we also know it’s just gonna rain one day or part of a day! Rainy days can be a drag on vacation especially if it pours down buckets but it doesn’t have to be a wash. Believe it or not Georgetown/Scott County may be considered an outdoor destination but we have plenty of things to do that don't require the sunshine to keep us busy and still have fun on those not so perfect days.

So, let's get to it. Here's my top 10 favorite rainy day activities for adults.

1) Get lost in a museum. Local museums give you an opportunity to learn about some local culture. If you’re a horse lover you will want to plan a visit to one of the equine museums nearby.

2) Go shop locally. Great stores and great choice, you’re more likely to find things that you wouldn’t normally find at home.

3) Enjoy a long leisurely meal at one of the local restaurants, rain or shine you gotta eat.

4) Get some hot buttery popcorn and watch a good flick at the movies

5) Take a flight at a local brewery and learn about some local drinks.

6) Blend your own bourbon that fits your flavor profile.

7) Get crafty. Learn how to make your own quilt, stained glass, or pottery.

8) Tour a historic home and feel like a southern belle.

9) Trying a new class at the local fitness center. It’s a great way to try out something new, like a yoga class or an introduction to Pilates.

10) Here’s my favorite, ignore the rain and keep on going! Do whatever you had planned to do.

Just stick out your chin and grin, remember the sun will come out tomorrow or sooner in Georgetown, Kentucky!

Hiking, Hunting, Fishing & Trapping at Veterans WMA
A variety of game species as well as migratory birds, reptiles and amphibians make their home in the 2,500 acres of hardwood forests, shrublands, grasslands and pond of Scott County’s Veterans Wildlife Management Area.
Artist Brings Beauty to Georgetown Rest Stop
The desire to make things beautiful seems to be part of every artist’s DNA. That impulse brought one Georgetown artist to the I-75 Scott County Rest Area – Southbound, located at Mile Marker 127, to work her particular brand of magic.
Anniemals

Anniemals Art Studio may be the only business in Georgetown to feature live art displays in its front windows. The active and ever-changing displays come courtesy of three resident rescue kitties – Zorro, Gypsy and Winter – each with an eye for the creative.
Babes BBQ
Among Babes’ most popular items are its Rib Sammich, featuring rib meat pulled off the bones and covered in a sweet sauce and pickles and onions and served on a grilled hoagie bun, and Redneck Nachos, a piquant mélange of homemade seasoned potato chips, pulled pork, queso and sour cream.

Georgetown/Scott County Tourism is working hard to gather the most accurate and up to date opening dates, days and hours of operation from our local businesses and attractions in order to support their reopening throughout uncertain conditions.
