The Guam Chamber of Commerce thanks the seven Democratic senatorial candidates who participated in the Guam Young Professionals’ (GYP) candidate forum that took place on October 1st: Fred Bordallo, Sarah Thomas Nededog, Kallen Perez, Roy Quinata, Angel Sablan, Anthony Wayne Taijeron, and Joaquin Paulino Taitague.
All 15 candidates on the Democratic slate were invited. These seven made time to engage directly with young professionals whose careers, families, and futures will be shaped by the decisions of the next Legislature. We appreciate their participation and willingness to take part in yesterday's conversation. Forums like these give candidates an important opportunity to hear directly from emerging leaders and explain how they intend to address the challenges facing Guam.
“Our young professionals are building their careers, raising families, and deciding whether they can build their futures here,” said Chamber Chairman Edward Untalan. “We appreciate the candidates who made time to listen and engage. These conversations matter, and we encourage every candidate to make them a priority.”
This acknowledgment recognizes participation, not a Chamber endorsement of any candidate. Our expectation is the same across political parties: Guam’s young professionals deserve opportunities to be heard by those seeking to represent them.
We also thank GYP’s leadership, volunteers, and participants for their work in creating a platform for civic engagement and informed voting.
Through Project Prosperity, the Chamber's voter education outreach campaign, the Chamber encourages voters to seek specific commitments on jobs, housing, effective government, and Guam’s economic future and to ask who will be responsible, when improvements will be delivered, and how results will be measured.
The Guam Young Professionals have invited Republican Senatorial Candidates to discuss their platforms and answer questions curated by the GYP on Wednesday, October 8th. The GYP YouDecide forum will begin promptly at 3:30 p.m., with a mixer following immediately afterwards for direct one-on-one opportunities between the young professionals and candidates.
The Chamber is hosting a Gubernatorial Forum on Wednesday, October 7th at the Dusit Thani Guam Resort and a Congressional Forum on Wednesday, October 28th at the Hilton Guam Resort & Spa. For more information about these forums, please contact the Guam Chamber office: (671) 472-6311/8001 or email: info@guamchamber.com.gu.
