PARENT - TEACHER CONFERENCES
CONFERENCES OCTOBER 14
Parent - Teacher Conferences will be held from 3-7 PM
We welcome parents on a drop-in basis, no appointment needed. Conferences will be held in the individual classrooms and begin every 15 minutes. Sessions will be 10 min. in length with 5 min. for cleaning in between. Parents will check in at the front doors for Covid screening.

A hot dog sack lunch was provided for SMA students. Kona Ice also provided a free treat during lunch to celebrate exceeding our Guardian Stride goal. Way to go, Guardians!


Friday Mask Competition Scoring:
Each House sends their best mask to be judged by the Deans and Community Captains. Then, Deans and Community Captains send their TOP TWO masks to the front office. The front office will determine 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners.
First Place: earn 5 points for your Community
Second Place: earn 3 points for your Community
Third Place: earn 1 point for your Community
Homecoming Court Crowned October 9

Congratulations to the following students for their nomination to the 2020 Homecoming Court!

The court will be announced and the King and Queen will be crowned during halftime of the Homecoming football game on Friday, October 9. Kick off is 7 PM.

GUARDIAN EVENTS
ENCOUNTER - October 22

SMA Open House - October 24

Help us spread the word about our Open House on Saturday, October 24. Tours and information will be available from 8 AM - 4:30 PM. Due to Covid safety guidelines, registration is required. Please share this link with anyone you think may be interested in learning more about SMA OPEN HOUSE. Please contact the Advancement Office if you are willing to put a yard sign about SMA's Open House in your yard or at your church. Parent volunteers welcomed. Guardian Stride Update
Wow! Thank you to all the friends and family who donated to the Guardian Stride. We've received more than 600 donations from 26 states resulting in over $40,000 raised for our school!

To celebrate exceeding our goal, Friday, Oct. 9 all students will receive a free grilled hot dog lunch and Kona Ice as a treat!

Tennis Team Wins 2nd in Districts
Congratulations to the SMA Girls Tennis Team for their 2nd Place finish in Districts. This is the highest placement an SMA tennis team has placed since the school began in 2017. Individual sectional competition continues Friday 10/9 for double partners Jenna Drake/Emily Rogge and Clare Scheier/Miah Reyes-Scheuerman as well as singles player Sammie Rogge. Boys Swim Team Compete in Inaugural Meet
Shout out to SMA's 1st BOYS swim team who competed for the first time this past week against Ray-Pec and Grain Valley. We are proud of these individuals who have put forth commitment in starting this NEW SMA athletic program. Leadership at work!
The Guard Membership
SMA is proud to have a supportive and dynamic booster club called The Guard. The Guard's purpose is to support our athletics & activity programs at SMA. This support comes through participation and attendance at various events throughout the school year, as well as financial support that may not be covered by the normal budget outline.

Employment Opportunity for an SMA Student
A family from Our Lady of the Presentation needs help after school with their two children. A 4th grade girl and 2nd grade boy. Responsibilities include help tutor the kids, finish homework, prepare a light snack and other small tasks. This would be everyday after school until 6pm. This is a paid position. International Rosary & Marian Procession
All are welcome to join Bishop Johnston in the International Rosary and Marian Procession from St. Patrick parish on Saturday, October 10 beginning at 10 AM. Students are encouraged to wear their school uniform and show their school spirit with signs and banners in procession. SMA's Guardians of the Altar will be in attendance with the Dominican Sisters. Free Breakfast & Lunch For All Students Under 18
Through a USDA waiver, LSR7 can now offer ALL students 18 and under meals free of charge until December 31, 2020. This includes breakfasts and lunches for Monday through Friday. All items are packed up and ready to go for each student. The pick up location will be each Monday and Wednesday at Lee's Summit High School between the Fieldhouse and Building B. There are two options for curbside pick up; 12pm-1pm or 5pm-6pm.  There are many options for pick up; a family can pick up the meals for themselves, families can pick up for other families or the school can pick up for their own students and distribute as needed. ID verification is not needed for food pickup. The #R7PD office is happy to share good news in times like these. No child should ever go hungry.
