HOMECOMING NEXT WEEK

Cookout Lunch Friday, Oct 9
A hot dog sack lunch will be provided for SMA students. Kona Ice will also be provided at no charge during lunch to celebrate meeting our Guardian Stride goal.

Mask Competition Rules: 
Must use a standard mask or gaiter.
Masks must be school appropriate and free from any political or inappropriate words, pictures, or connotations.

Scoring:
Each House sends their best mask to be judged by the Deans and Community Captains. Then, Deans and Community Captains send their TOP TWO masks to the front office. The front office will determine 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners.
First Place: earn 5 points for your Community
Second Place: earn 3 points for your Community
Third Place: earn 1 point for your Community
Homecoming Court Announced
Congratulations to the following students for their nomination to the 2020 Homecoming Court!

Voting for King and Queen will take place during school next week. The court will be announced and the King and Queen will be crowned during halftime of the football game on Friday, October 9. Kick off is 7 PM.

The live-stream of the game and halftime activities will be available on the SMA Football webpage

Homecoming activities will take place during the spirit week, but there will not be a Homecoming Dance due to the pandemic.

SMA Open House - October 24

Help us spread the word about our Open House on Saturday, October 24. Tours and information will be available from 8 AM - 4:30 PM. Due to Covid safety guidelines, registration is required. Please share this link with anyone you think may be interested in learning more about SMA OPEN HOUSE. Please contact the Advancement Office if you are willing to put a yard sign about SMA's Open House in your yard or at your church.
Orders Ready For Pick-Up
School pictures are ready to be picked up in the Academic Office between the hours of 8 AM - 4 PM. If you are under quarantine, please have a family member pick them up for you. Pictures will also be available to students when they return to the building.

Retakes: If your student did not get a picture taken, there will be a retake day scheduled at a later date. In the event you are unhappy with your student's photo, you may receive a refund, or the student can take another picture on retake day. Even if you do not purchase photos, every student should have a picture taken for our yearbook and their school ID. 
Custom order masks are ready to be picked up between the hours of 8 AM - 4 PM. If you are under quarantine, please have a family member pick them up for you.
Submit Your Photos to Yearbook
Want to capture a school memory this year? Download the HJ eShare App to submit photos of you and your friends at Guardian events for the upcoming yearbook! The app can be downloaded through the App Store for Apple users or Google Play Store for Android users. Once opened, enter the school code, GoGuardians, to access and select images to upload. Please label the pictures with names, events and dates. This app is easy to use and will help the yearbook team make sure everyone gets the opportunity to have their picture captured in the 2020-2021 yearbook.

Require technical assistance? Please submit a ticket by emailing techsupport@smacatholic.org. Tickets sent from non-SMA email addresses will not receive a response, unless the issue is with an SMA email address.

The Guard Membership
St. Michael the Archangel is proud to have a supportive and dynamic booster club called The Guard. The Guard's purpose is to support our athletics & activity programs at SMA. This support comes through participation and attendance at various events throughout the school year, as well as financial support that may not be covered by the normal budget outline.

UPCOMING EVENTS
Guardian Stride Update
To date, our students have received 467 sponsorships for the Guardian Stride, resulting in $32,354 raised for our school! Since we exceeded our goal, Kona Ice will be provided to all students next Friday at lunchtime, and a free dress down day will be granted later in the semester. Next week, individual prizes also will be awarded. Thank you to everyone who has contributed, either by sending letters or making a donation! We look forward to celebrating with the students during the actual Stride, which has been rescheduled for November 24.
Grandparents Day - CANCELLED
Due to Covid restrictions, Grandparents Day has been canceled for the time being. If possible, we will look to do something later this spring.

Jostens will be scheduling another date to come to school to pick up Senior Announcements and Cap and Gown orders. We will let you know as soon as a date is set. You are always welcome to make your purchases online if you prefer.

International Rosary & Marian Procession
All are welcome to join Bishop Johnston in the International Rosary and Marian Procession from St. Patrick parish, north to Divine Mercy Park on Saturday, October 10 beginning at 10 AM. All students are welcome to wear their school uniform and show their school spirit with signs and banners in procession.

Auction for St. John LaLande School
Save the Date: St. John LaLande Annual Auction is November 7, 2020. Everyone is invited for the first ever St. John LaLande virtual auction!
Free Breakfast & Lunch For All Students Under 18
Through a USDA waiver, LSR7 can now offer ALL students 18 and under meals free of charge until December 31, 2020. This includes breakfasts and lunches for Monday through Friday. All items are packed up and ready to go for each student. The pick up location will be each Monday and Wednesday at Lee's Summit High School between the Fieldhouse and Building B. There are two options for curbside pick up; 12pm-1pm or 5pm-6pm.  There are many options for pick up; a family can pick up the meals for themselves, families can pick up for other families or the school can pick up for their own students and distribute as needed. ID verification is not needed for food pickup. The #R7PD office is happy to share good news in times like these. No child should ever go hungry.
