Guatemala, April 13, 2020
Dear Colleagues and Clients:
Please be advised that due to the COVID-19 pandemic crisis, the President of Guatemala has extended the executive measures of suspension of all non essential activities, for both the public and private sector, until
April 19, 2020.
Nevertheless, the
Trademark and Patent Office
(Intellectual Property Register) has surprisingly announced that they will partially resume operations from April 13, 2020, on a reduced schedule and with limited personnel.
Until further notice, during this period, the Trademark and Patent Office operations will be limited to the reception of renewal applications, new oppositions and patent applications.
Filing of trademark applications will not be possible.
Additionally, it will be possible to pick up recently issued certificates of trademark registration, renewal, change of name and assignment.
Please refer to the chart below with the applications and proceedings that will be received at the moment by the TM Office.
The Court System will remain closed during this period;
thus all running terms and deadlines will continue to be suspended
until the executive measures are lifted.
As it has been the case until now,
BUFELCO
will continue providing services remotely, thus our operations will continue, to the extent possible, as normal, with our usual response times for all communications and requests.
Please do not hesitate to contact us via email or telephone, for any assistance you my require.
We appreciate your understanding and extend our best wishes for the health of each of you, your colleagues and families.
Please stay safe!
Sincerely yours,
BUFELCO PROPIEDAD INDUSTRIAL
