A REAL BIBLE STORY Exhibit Coming to Tifton in April
"Manifold Greatness: The Creation and Afterlife of the King James Bible" will be at the Tifton Museum of Arts and Heritage from April 20 - May 17.
Presented by the Tifton-Tift County Public Library, in cooperation with the Tifton Museum, the traveling exhibition was created to celebrate the 400th anniver- sary of the first printing of the King James Bible in 1611. The exhibit tells the story of the origins, creation and impact of one of the most influential books in history.
Manifold Greatness not only highlights the dramatic history behind the making of this great book, but also includes its influence on English and American literature, and its multifaceted impact on culture and society.
The title Manifold Greatness, referring to the multi-faceted or "manifold" influence of this landmark book, is taken from the 1611 Bible's dedication to King James, which begins, "Great and manifold were the blessings" when God made James the king of England.
The exhibition will include local lectures and readings, as well as a "Renaissance Faire" from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. on April 20 in Library Lane.
