We're celebrating two decades of protecting
the Blue Ridge Parkway!
I
t's time to celebrate the impact YOU have made on the Blue Ridge Parkway. In 1997, the Foundation was created to give you the power to protect its diverse wildlife and landscape, fascinating historic structures, rich culture, and wealth of outdoor experiences. Since then we have raised more than $12 million for these efforts and completed hundreds of projects. In our 20th year, we are taking a moment to honor the accomplishments you've made possible. There is no time like the present to look forward to an even stronger future for the Parkway. Let's take the next stretch of the journey together!

A new Kids in Parks record!
Children across the country and right here on the Blue Ridge Parkway helped our
Kids in Parks program set a new record in 2016! These young adventurers logged 2,800 hikes on our TRACK Trails, which introduce kids and families to outdoor activities. That equals roughly 230 adventures per month, or more than seven registrations per day!
These visits are also strengthening our partner parks, including the Parkway, because kids who learn to love the outdoors grow up to be adults who protect our parks. It's so great to see them take the first steps to build a lifelong relationship with nature.

Music Center welcomed more concert-goers in 2016
With the help of the National Park Service, donors, sponsors, and volunteers, the
Blue Ridge Music Center experienced another fantastic season in 2016. More than 40,000 patrons visited to explore the Roots of American Music exhibit, listen to Midday Mountain Music, and plan their Parkway journey at the Visitor Center. Total concert attendance was 6,894, an increase of 20 percent over the last concert season.
Since 2013, the Foundation
has funded concert programming at the Music Center in keeping with our mission, which includes the preservation of cultural heritage on the Parkway.

Road to the Past
Visitors review an informational easel box at the Ridge Junction parking overlook, milepost 355.3 on the Blue Ridge Parkway, in 1965. For a time, these boxes dotted the route. To see more, visit
