FINANCIAL AID INFORMATION
Seniors who intend to apply for financial aid to attend post-secondary education should apply as soon as possible. Check with the post-secondary school(s) to find out which of the various financial aid forms should be completed to qualify for financial aid at that institution. Students who apply the earliest generally qualify for the maximum amount of aid. Generally, schools prefer that students submit financial aid forms no later than Feb. 15. However, for Pennsylvania students who intend to enroll in a four year college program and who wish to qualify for a Pennsylvania state grant, all applications must be received by the Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency (PHEAA) no later than May 1, 2020. For students who intend to enroll in business, trade or technical schools, hospital schools of nursing, or two year terminal programs at community, junior or four year colleges all applications must be received by PHEAA no later than May 1, 2020.

One part of the process that is vital to qualifying for financial assistance is completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid.  It's recommended that this form be filled out online, as the results are generated much more quickly.  Even if a family believes they would not qualify for any assistance, it's strongly recommended that the FAFSA is still completed.  Please click here to begin working on the FAFSA.  The application process opened in October, 2019.
COURSE SELECTION INFORMATION
Online Course Registration Procedure
In the near future, students will select their courses for the 2020-21 school year. Students will be able to review the course catalog, outlining all of the courses available here at Delone Catholic.  Online course selection will be explained via a power point presentation found in the Squire Wire.  An information packet will also be sent home with the students, as they schedule a time to meet with their Guidance Counselor.  Parents should contact their child's Guidance Counselor at any time with questions about classes. We will be happy to help.
SAT TESTING
Plan Ahead
The SAT and SAT Subject Tests will be given at Delone Catholic on Saturday, May 2, 2020. The regular registration deadline is April 3 for this test date. For an additional $29.00 students may register during a late registration period with a deadline of April 21.  Students are reminded that the prom is scheduled for May 1, the day before the May SAT date. In addition, there are numerous schools throughout Pennsylvania and Maryland that offer a June 6 test date, including South Western, New Oxford, York Suburban and Westminster High Schools. Juniors who are considering attending a four-year college are encouraged to register for the SAT for either of these test dates if they have not already taken the test previously.

Students who intend to apply to competitive colleges are frequently required to take SAT Subject Tests. These tests are given on the same date as the SAT and have the same registration deadlines. These tests are most often taken on the October, November, December test dates of senior year. Students may register for either the SAT or the SAT Subject Tests on a particular date, but not both. Students should register online by clicking here

ACT TESTING
Plan Ahead
The American College Testing (ACT) program offers testing for students who intend to apply for college. Colleges in the West and South typically prefer students to take this test rather than SAT's. However more schools in the Middle Atlantic and Northeast states now accept ACT scores as part of an application. Some students do better on the ACT assessment because ACT's measure achievement, while SAT's measure aptitude. Students who feel that they could score higher on an achievement test should schedule ACT's in addition to the SAT's. Delone Catholic will serve as a test center for the ACT test on April 4, 2020. The regular registration deadline is February 28. Students should register online by clicking here

SUMMER PROGRAMS
Information Now Available
From time to time, the Guidance Office receives information about summer programs of benefit to our students. Information on such programs is kept on file in the Guidance Office. Students may make an appointment to come into the office to view the materials. Occasionally, information about some of these programs will also be posted on the Delone Catholic Guidance Department Facebook page.
SUMMER PSYCHOLOGY PROGRAM
At Gettysburg College
Gettysburg College is offering something called "Camp Psych."  The goal of the camp is to provide a window into how psychological science works by exploring some of the significant questions investigated by psychologists.  Campers will get hands-on experiences that introduce them to research in psychology in a fun, challenging, and engaging environment.  Campers will not simply learn about cutting edge issues and research in psychology; they will engage in research themselves.  The camp will give students an insider view of the field as well as provide preparation for college studies.  For more information, please visit the  Camp Psych website.
