only "Walk In" facility in Guilford County to process passport applications for the U.S. Department of State.
Register of Deeds Jeff Thigpen is excited to offer this new service for those planning to travel or live abroad. "No more time consuming phone calls to set up appointments or going to other counties to apply for a passport. We'll take care of applications on the spot with customer friendly service", Registrar Thigpen emphasizes.

As an appointment-only facility, the office has since processed 2,350 passport applications and generated $75,000 for Guilford County government. "Guilford County has 550,000 citizens and is the third largest county in North Carolina. We're at a place now to take this service to a higher level", says Thigpen.
