Classical guitarist Jason Vieaux  is looking forward to a busy 2016-2017 season with solo, chamber and orchestral performances around the world, in venues including the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, Lincoln Center in New York City, and the Academy for Performing Arts in Hong Kong.

Jason's summer concerts have included a solo recital at the Guitar Foundation of America's Convention and Symposium in Denver, CO, and performances at the East Carolina University Summer Guitar Workshop and the Eastern Music Festival in Greensboro, where he was also a faculty member. In a review of Jason's performance of Boccherini's Guitar Quintet at the Eastern Music Festival, The Greensboro News and Record wrote, "Vieaux played Boccherini's shifts between accompanist and solo lines with grace and ease, controlling dynamics masterfully." Jason also made much-anticipated returns to the Kingston Chamber Music Festival,  the Chautauqua Symphony Orchestra, and the Chamber Music Festival of Lexington.

One highlight this summer was a visit to Colorado Public Radio's studio in June, where Jason played Bach's Suite in E minor, BWV 996, and Francisco Tárrega's "Capricho árabe." Watch his performances below!

Coming up this Friday, September 2, Jason finishes his summer season with  harpist Yolanda Kondonassis at the prestigious Ravinia Festival, where they will perform a duo recital of works from their 2015 Azica Records release, Together.

Jason's 2016-17 season kicks off with a trip to Amsterdam on September 17, where he has been invited to perform in the world-famous Concertgebouw as part of the Masters of Guitar concert series, organized by guitarist Esther Steenbergen and guitarist/luthier Otto Vowinkel. Other solo recitals this fall include the John E. Marlow Guitar Series in Bethesda, MD on October 22, and Da Camera in Houston, TX on December 9. Additionally, Jason is featured in a program titled "Solo Bach" at the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center on December 4, where he'll play Suite in E minor, BWV 996, in a showcase of Bach's solo works.

Jason's many chamber concerts this fall include collaborations with a wide range of esteemed musicians. He joins his long-time colleagues of the Escher String Quartet at Friends of Chamber Music in Kansas City, MO, on September 23; Parlance Chamber Concerts in Ridgewood, NJ, on September 25; and Washington & Lee University Concert Guild Series in Lexington, VA, on October 21.  From September 26 to October 16, Jason will join violinist Nigel Armstrong, violist Roberto Díaz, and cellist Jean Kim for Curtis on Tour, performing in Seoul, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Athens and, back in the U.S. in Philadelphia.   The South China Morning Post published this preview  for their visit to the Academy for Performing Arts in Hong Kong on October 7. Additionally, Jason joins harpist Yolanda Kondonassis on October 27 at Pro Musica in Joplin, MO, and October 30 at Rosary Cathedral in Toledo, OH; and violinist Tessa Lark on November 29 at String Theory at the Hunter in Chattanooga, TN.

Jason's upcoming concerts as orchestral soloist include the Arkansas Symphony on September 24, where he'll perform tango-inspired works with bandoneonist Julien Labro, and the Edmonton Symphony on November 11 and 12. In Edmonton, Alabama, Jason will perform Vivaldi's Guitar Concerto in D Major, Jeff Beal's Concerto for Guitar " Six Sixteen ," and Alan Jay Kernis' Concierto de Dance Hits for guitar and orchestra.

Recordings coming out this fall include a new record with Julien Labro, titled Infusion , which will be released by Azica Records on October 28. Jason also recorded Alberto Ginastera's Sonata for Guitar, Op. 47, for a new album produced by harpist Yolanda Kondonassis,  Ginastera: One Hundred , coming out October 14 on Oberlin Music. Hear a clip of Jason's recording in the album trailer!
