Welcome Kate Harrison

We are pleased to welcome Kate Harrison as our new Program Coordinator supporting the Water Resources Team! Kate previously worked at Mote Marine Laboratory researching human health in relation to red tide and completing her doctoral degree. Before her move to the research side, she was a food safety inspector for the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services. Kate lives on a 110-acre farm in south Alabama with her husband and Newfoundland dogs. When not working, she can be found tending to their cattle, chickens, and fruit orchard, or making an appearance in their country store.

Coastal Community Resilience Team project builds Gulfwide resilience capacity

Nearly 20 practitioners from across the Gulf recently received training to facilitate the Coastal Community Resilience Index (CRI), filling a critical need to increase community resilience capacity. The CRI is a self-assessment tool used by communities to evaluate strengths, identify vulnerabilities, and plan for projects to address needs. Additional in-person and virtual training opportunities are being scheduled for this summer. This project is supported by Hancock Whitney Bank through our Gulf Star Program.
