Building resilience for Port Sulphur, LA

GOMA's Coastal Community Resilience Team, in partnership with Louisiana Sea Grant, recently facilitated a Coastal Community Resilience Index workshop with Port Sulphur, Louisiana. Using this guided self-assessment, community leaders discussed successes and identified vulnerabilities.

In the next phase of this project, the community will improve their emergency communications and increase public awareness and outreach on ways to protect their homes from storms and flooding.

This project is funded by Gulf Star partner Freeport McMoRan.

GOMA spreads love for the Gulf through coastal news outlets

GOMA is sharing information about the Gulf of Mexico with others through local news outlets. Articles written by GOMA have been featured in South Mississippi Living Magazine, The NOLA 100, The Houston 100, The SW Florida 100, The Tampa Bay 100, and The Panhandle 100. These articles help remind readers along the coast how important the Gulf is, useful tips on how to give back, and what we are doing to protect it.
