Celebrate the completion of the Aquatics Center restoration!
The City of Gainesville’s Wild Spaces & Public Places program and the Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs Department are thrilled to announce completion of the H. Spurgeon Cherry Pool renovation. Please join us for a ribbon-cutting ceremony and celebration!
The ceremony will be held at the entrance of the pool from 11:30 a.m. to noon and followed by self-guided tours of the new aquatics center. Admission to the pool will be free to the public from 11:45 a.m. to 2 p.m. the day of the event. To view photos of the community center and park, click here.
Come enjoy the new aquatics center and pool! The newly renovated facility is not only beautiful, but the design is focused on ease of use for the guests. Just a few of the many new features you'll see are:
A new lobby area which directs traffic flow at the entrance directly to the pool
Individual shower stalls to provide privacy
Lockers and cubbies with digital locks which include full-size lockers for hanging clothes and new lockable cubbies on the pool deck
Two outdoor showers for guests who prefer to rinse off instead of having to shower in the locker room
Two new family bathrooms accessible directly from the pool deck
New roofing, and electrical systems upgrades
A new pool liner
Please join us to commemorate the newly renovated aquatics center at the opening celebration!
