H-GAC Board of Directors Meetings are held at 10:00 a.m. on the third Tuesday of each month. Agendas for all committees can be found on our website Please visit our  calendar  for upcoming meetings and events.

Unless otherwise listed, meetings are held on the second floor at H-GAC's office, 3555 Timmons Lane, Houston, TX 77027


December Board of Directors Meeting

At the December meeting, the H-GAC Board of Directors unanimously approved the funding of solid waste management grants, acceptance of additional funds for two Workforce Solutions ombudsman positions and authorization to contract with providers for law enforcement training programs for FY18-19.

A final version of the 2018 Budget & Service Plan was presented  along with the recommended 2018 Salary Benefit Program in a public hearing.  The Board unanimously voted to approve both items.

In addition, the H-GAC Election Committee presented its recommendations for next year's officers.  Council Member Floyd Emery, City of Missouri City was nominated as the 2018 H-GAC Chair, Commissioner Stacy Adams, Brazoria County was nominated as the Chair Elect and Councilmember Nancy Arnold, City of Waller representing General  Law Cities was nominated as the Vice Chair.
Public Works Employment
Workforce Solutions, is responding to the regional workforce challenges created by Hurricane Harvey for local governments by providing funds to help employ workers who have lost their jobs due the storm or other qualifying circumstances. Work must be related to the repair of public facilities or land.   Click HERE  for more information. 
Revitalization Roundtable - January 23
Bringing Back Main Street Logo
Save the date for the next  Bringing Back Main Street Roundtable from 9:30 a.m. to noon  Tuesday, January 23, at Liedertafel Hall, 116 Lux Road, Sealy. Isabel Longoria, Associate State Director for the AARP, will lead discussion on age-friendly planning and design for the region.

Online registration is requested.

These roundtables help local governments, chambers of commerce, and economic development interests promote the economy and revitalization of downtown areas.

H-GAC 2018 Election Law Workshop
The 2018 Election Law Workshop will be held on  Thursday, February 8, 2018 from 7:45 a.m. to 
3:00 p.m. at  N oah's Event Venue  in Sugar Land.

All city and school district staff who are responsible for conducting elections are invited to attend this annual event to receive instructions and updates in order to conduct upcoming elections.

The registration fee is $125 per person and includes a continental breakfast, lunch, afternoon break, and meeting materials.  Register  HERE .

Early registration is recommended in order to prepare adequate materials and handbooks. 
Deadline for registration is Monday, February 5th at 5:00 p.m.

Our Great Region 2040 Award Winners
Winners of Our Great Region AwardsH-GAC presented the 2017 Our Great Region Awards in early December to recognize outstanding local projects covering transportation, the environment, economic development, resiliency, housing, and healthy communities.
  • The Excellence Award - Harris County Public Health for the City of Pasadena Safe Routes to Schools Initiative. This award, the highest honor, recognizes the project best advancing the vision of the Our Great Region 2040 plan.
  • The Connection Award - City of Houston for the City of Houston Bike Plan. This award honors projects advancing two or more of the Our Great Region 2040 plan's strategies through innovative partnerships.
  • The Diligence Award - Bay City Community Development Corporation for the Bay City North Downtown Plan. This award honors an implemented project executing a creative and tenacious approach to overcome challenges to implementation.
  • The Opportunity Award - Rosenberg Parks and Recreation for the Seabourne Creek Park Nature Center. This award honors a project helping to overcome disparities in access to opportunity.
  • The Reach Award - The Woodlands Joint Powers Agency for the Defined Irrigation Schedule. This award honors a project demonstrating exemplary public participation.

H-GAC Releases 2017 Regional Growth Forecast
2040 Regional Growth Forecast

H-GAC released its 2017 Regional Growth Forecast Estimates on December 6, 2017. The release includes data on population and jobs down to the Transportation Analysis Zone (TAZ) and Census Tract level. It also includes data on current and future parcel land use. The data is available for download, as well as for display as maps and tables.
2045 Regional Transportation Plan - Get Involved!
Planning efforts for the 2045 Regional Transportation Plan (RTP) continue, and there are numerous opportunities to voice your ideas and get involved in the New Year.

Commissioner's Court Meetings have been scheduled for January and February, and Public Meetings will take place in March, April and May throughout the 8-county Houston-Galveston region.

Public comments received to date have been helpful to H-GAC's planning team. An in-depth public participation process helps ensure direct feedback from policy makers, regional leadership, and that the public is reflected in the plan. Residents are encouraged to get actively involved in 2018 and send us your comments at  2045RTP.com .
