NEWSLETTER March 2026

YOUR FAMILY & COMMUNITY RESOURCE CONNECTION

Dear Friends and Supporters,

At the heart of our mission is a simple but powerful belief: when we give back to our community, we strengthen the future for everyone.

Every day, I am inspired by the generosity, compassion, and commitment shown by our volunteers, partners, donors, and staff. Because of you, we are able to extend hope, create opportunity, and make a meaningful difference in the lives of those we serve. Your dedication reminds us that real change happens when people come together with a shared purpose.

Giving back is not just about resources — it’s about connection. It’s about listening, understanding, and standing alongside our neighbors. Together, we are building a community rooted in dignity, equity, and possibility.

Thank you for being part of this journey. Your support fuels our work and deepens our impact. I look forward to all we will accomplish together in the months ahead.

H.O.P.E. selected to serve on the ACFB Partner Agency Council to impact food insecurity for our neighbors

HOPE is currently operating a feeding program, food pantry, or other program that distributes food to those in need. The Atlanta Community Food Bank provides food to nearly 700 partner agencies to ensure nutritious food reaches every corner of our 29-county service area.

Nearly 1 in 7 Georgians is living with food insecurity, including 1 in 5 children. In our 29-county service area, 1 in 8 people are affected, including 1 in 6 children. Help us serve our hungry neighbors by hosting a Food or Fund Drive. Whether you're a corporation, organization, or community group, you can easily create a Drive, set a goal, track your progress, and invite others to join your efforts.

We had a great time at the South Cobb Area Council meeting on Feb 12, hosted by the Cobb Chamber! Our CEO, Shari Martin of the Cobb Community Foundation, joined County Commissioner Monique Sheffield and Carolyn Turner of the H.O.P.E. Family Resource Center, Inc for a candid conversation about activating good in South Cobb — and the incredible work nonprofits are doing every day to strengthen our community.

Congratulations to the 2025 Powder Springs Citizen of the Year, Dennette Thornton! From mentoring students to leading boards and mobilizing volunteers, she turns passion into real impact.

What is diabetes?

Diabetes means that your

blood glucose (blood sugar)

is too high. Glucose comes

from the food we eat. An

organ called the pancreas

(PAN-kree-as) makes insulin

(IN-suh-lin). Insulin helps

glucose gets from your blood

into your cells. Cells take

the glucose and turn it into

energy.

When you have diabetes,

your body has a problem

making or properly using

insulin. As a result, glucose

builds up in your blood and

cannot get into your cells. If

the blood glucose stays too

high, it can damage your

body.

Healthy Aging Tips for the Seniors in Your Life

If you have older family members or loved ones, you may worry about their health as they age. Aging increases the risk of chronic diseases such as heart disease, type 2 diabetes, arthritis, cancer, and dementia.

We all know what it’s like to feel hungry after skipping a meal. Hunger is a feeling that can be different for everyone, but food insecurity measures the conditions that can lead to hunger.

Food insecurity describes a household’s inability to provide enough food for every person to live an active and healthy life. One "bad month" can be enough to plunge a household into food insecurity. Lay-offs at work, unexpected car maintenance or an accident on the job can suddenly force a family to choose between buying food and paying bills. Working families across America face countless situations that can result in food insecurity and hunger.
